Chips: 13,756 | | | Odd situation -- live STT at Mirage Mirage, single table tournament, $100+vig buy-in. I am heads-up against a Robert Varkonyi look-alike (might have been his brother), so we'll call him "Bob." 1st pays $700, 2nd pays $300.
I have about 15,000, Bob has about 5000. Bob is fairly tight, seems moderately experience, kind of nervous, and has simply sat tight while I single-handedly knocked out every other player. I wished this happened all the time, and everything has run unbelievably well for me from the very start.
Blinds are 300-600. I am on the button and raise to 1200 with QJo. Bob calls. Pot is 2400, and Bob has 3800 left.
Flop is Q98 rainbow. I bet 1000. Bob says "call," kind of nudges his whole stack forward about an inch, and flips his cards face up on the table -- he has 67.
I say, "I only bet 1000."
Bob replies, "Oh."

Chips: 457 | | | Re: Odd situation -- live STT at Mirage show your cards, and re-raise him all in. Since he's tight, he will see that he is beat and drawing to 8 outs. Another Q or J doesn't help complete his straight...
But either way, your going to get all your money in the pot on that one...a made hand against a draw?
You also have enough chips to make a move like that...even if he doubles up, and if he's as tight as you say he is, he will fold to almost any raise... |

Chips: 1,845 | | | Re: Odd situation -- live STT at Mirage Technically I think his hand is killed also, right? I mean the call is binding so he owes 1k, but then he flipped up his cards and should have them killed. Too bad, he's dead to a 5, but thinks he's open ended. |

sucks for him, but you have to move all in here. don't show your cards, you want him to call you thinking he has 8 outs.

if it's just a call, then push the turn if he doesn't hit.
if it's a push, then call.
i'd be happy to get it all in on that flop, with your chip lead, once i've seen his cards. |

Chips: 49 | | | Re: Odd situation -- live STT at Mirage I'm staying at the Mirage this weekend, do they offer the $100 STT on weekends? I was thinking of doing the $400 sunday night tourney, but I'd like to try a STT there before hand.
