More heads-up play - gimme input

I've had great success playing heads up online. HOH II helped me a lot.

This hand, however, was not one of my best. Y'all please give me some input.

*********** Hand # 11 **************
PokerStars Game #3747913807: Tournament #18611550, Hold'em No Limit - Match Round I, Level I (10/20) - 2006/01/24 - 23:57:15 (ET)
Table '18611550 1' One on One Seat #1 is the button
Seat 1: tomb1 (1140 in chips)
Seat 2: Robicho (1860 in chips)
tomb1: posts small blind 10
Robicho: posts big blind 20

*** HOLE CARDS ***
I limp, he min-raises, I call
Dealt to tomb1 [Tc 7c] – 65% favorite
tomb1: calls 10
Robicho: raises 20 to 40
tomb1: calls 20
POT 80

*** FLOP *** [7d 5d 6c] – 30% underdog, in hindsight
I hit top pair, he bets, I re-raise pot, he calls
Robicho: bets 60
tomb1: raises 160 to 220
Robicho: calls 160
POT 520

*** TURN *** [7d 5d 6c] [8c] – 43% underdog
He checks, I bet 1/2 pot - top pair plus flush draw plus straight draw, he calls
Robicho: checks
tomb1: bets 240
Robicho: calls 240
POT 1000

*** RIVER *** [7d 5d 6c 8c] [Kh]
Busted draws, he value bets, I call 160 into a 1160 pot - 7:1 odds
Robicho: bets 160
tomb1: calls 160
POT 1320

*** SHOW DOWN ***
I lose
Robicho: shows [5s 6h] (two pair, Sixes and Fives)
tomb1: mucks hand
Robicho collected 1320 from pot

*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 1320 | Rake 0
Board [7d 5d 6c 8c Kh]
Seat 1: tomb1 (button) (small blind) mucked [Tc 7c]
Seat 2: Robicho (big blind) showed [5s 6h] and won (1320) with two pair, Sixes and Fives

End chip counts:
tomb1 (480 in chips)
Robicho (2520 in chips)

The silver lining is that I clawed my way back from this hole (got down to a low point of 360 chips a little later) and ended up winning - after 48 minutes and 135 hands! Longest HU Match ever for me.

Re: More heads-up play - gimme input

tough one tom.

when he checks to me on the turn, i think i check behind at least 1/2 the time. my top pair hand was already mediocre, and now i don't even have top pair.

the draws make me MORE likely to check, b/c if he check-raises me i want to vomit.

if you check there, it becomes possible to fold on the river when you miss. after the turn action, though, i don't mind the call on the river.

not a horrible hand...just worked out tough for you.

Re: More heads-up play - gimme input

Hmm, seeing the results right out makes it hard not to give clouded analysis. Try not to do that in the future when posting hands...

In hindsight it's easy to suggest checking behind him on the turn and seeing if you improve on the river. You reraised just slightly more than the pot on the flop and he calls. Ruh roh. You have TPWK.

It's hard to honestly say I wouldn't have played it similiar to how you did on the turn (in fact if I decide to bet I probably would have bet approx. 3/4 pot on the turn), but the only way you're maybe saving chips at this point is to slow down and check that turn behind him...and hope to call a similiar sized value bet on the river.

Again it's hard not to give clouded advice when the results are posted outright...

Good work coming back to win it!

Thanks. Could you suggest what would be better for you when I lay out a hand? What should I omit? Should I split it into several posts?

Would this be better for everybody? And then show result later?
