Chips: 9,298 | | | What do you think? Last night. Home tourney (T5000) at a friends house. 13 people - $50 buy in, rebuys for the first hour.
Only about six hands in, blinds 25-50, six players at our table. I have about T5000, Dealer has about T4000. I know him pretty well and he is loose, aggressive.
I get K J in the BB.
Two or three limpers, including the dealer, to me.
I raise to 200 total, Dealer and one other call.
Flop: J J 8
I bet 400, one fold,
Dealer goes all-in.
What next?

L | Wow thats a good one... With your discription of the dealer I would say he maybe trying to put a move on you. Better yet he may have you beat. If he holds other jack with better kicker you are beat. If he has other jack and an 8 he has the nuts. Or he could have 88 and of course he has the 2nd nuts. In this spot I would probley have to fold. Its early blinds are small and you havent risked much of your stack to this point. Unless you want to gamble then go for it. Worst case you have to rebuy... |

Chips: 80 | | | Re: What do you think? the only hand that beats you that id be able to put him on would be j-8. a loose aggressive player will probably raise preflop with 8's, especially on the button with a few limpers. a-j is another possibility, but again, more than likely, thats at least a small raise preflop. so, more than likely, there are only 3 hands out there that beat you. i hope you have a good read on him.
that being said, a move that i might consider, seeing as how its early, would be to fold, and show it down. nothing like having a real tight reputation at a table to help your ability to bluff.
btw, i love those chips of yours. |

If he had J8 or 88, villain's best play here would be to call. As it is, he's a little worried about the flush.
I'd put him on maybe JQ or 10J, even X8 or a medium pp. You may be down to 4 outs here, but I think there's a better chance you've got the best hand right now.

Chips: 2,694 | | | Re: What do you think? I would make this call........of course theres a chance that he has J8 or 88 but your playing 6 handed so the chances are super thin. Holding a J with a K kicker against a loose aggressive player ill make the call pretty much every time.

L | It was a dumb bet... you only had 600 invested... if I layed it down I'd gone threw this reasoning and been fine with it even if he showed QQ.
I'd call and just rebuy if necessary.

The statement "two or three limpers" is important -- was it two or three? The answer to this might have a significant effect on how a LAG on the button would play the hand.
In any event, LAG button would probably do the following pre-flop with these hands:
88 - raise
AJ - raise
Ax spades - limp or raise, depending upon x
Jx - probably limp (KJ, QJ, JT, J9, J8 )
So, what are you most likely up against? A nut flush draw or a lower jack. If he flopped a boat, he's just going to call rather than push, so I don't think that he has J8 or 88. He probably would have raised with AJ or 88, and I can beat the remaining Jx hands.
I call.
Edit: the rebuy does not affect my decision. Either I think I have the best hand, or not. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
