Question Has anyonw taken the WPT BootCamp? Is it worth it?

I have a friend of mine thinking about taking the WPT boot camp while he is out on a business trip. I told him that I would inquire from the forums to see if others have takenn it and what the opinions are.

http://www.wptbootcamp.com/

IMO, anything you do to improve yourself is worth it. Has anyone taken this course and was it worth your wild?

i'd look for who the presenters are.

ideas like bet sizing, playing tight, et cetera can probably be better communicated in this sort of setting than by studying, especially for relative beginners.

i've looked at lederer's camps, and i think they look really useful. i just don't have the bread.

Talking Re: Has anyonw taken the WPT BootCamp? Is it worth it?

I hear you jojo. To my friend, the ~$1,400 is not "going to kill me" as he put it.

But I don't have that kind of bread to shell out for a class myself although, I think it would be cool depending on the teacher. The one he plans to take is suppose to be taught by Mark Seif , Alex Outhred , and, Crispin/Jules Leyser .

Mark's not bad - from the site: "...Mark Seif made history after he won his second World Series of Poker bracelet inside of one week. Last Friday he won Event #15, the $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout, to collect his first bracelet. This Friday he emerged victorious in the $1,500 NL Hold'em event. His feat was astonishing because he had to endure two tough fields including 2013 players who signed up for Event #22, which ended up being the third largest field in the history of the WSOP. With the ridiculous amount of entrants playing in all of this year's WSOP, making multiple final tables is impressive. But winning two bracelets is a major accomplishment. More astonishing is the fact that Mark Seif won back-to-back WSOP tournaments. This was the first event he played in since he won his first bracelet last week.

Recent Wins

2005 WSOP Tournament Tunica NL Hold’em – Places 4th

2005 36th Annual WSOP NL Hold'em Final Day – 1st Place

2005 36th Annual WSOP Limit Hold'em- 1st Place 2005 WPT L.A. Poker Classic NL Hold'em- 6th Place"

I've seen him play on TV but you don't know what they have done in the past unless you follow them. I think it's cool. But not everyone can be a teacher. So, hence the inquery.

$1400 isn't that bad at all, I'd pay that for the course, from what I heard on the rounders poker show it sounded pretty good.

Re: Has anyonw taken the WPT BootCamp? Is it worth it?

Any update on the WPT boot camp? I've been thinking about heading down to the one in Oklahoma in May, but don't want to invest the $1400 + expenses if it's not worth it.....

Comments?

Re: Has anyonw taken the WPT BootCamp? Is it worth it?

I have a paid entry into any of the 2007 WPT camp locations I don't think I am going to be able to use. I need to find out if it is transferrable and if so will probably put it up for sale.

Re: Has anyonw taken the WPT BootCamp? Is it worth it?

If your buddy wants the whole fantasy camp experience, I'd say go for it. If he wants to get better at poker, he should spend $200 on poker books and take the other $1200 to the bank to open a dedicated bankroll account.
