| Re: Poker Tracker I use PokerTracker with GameTime+ for NL ring games. I do not use it for tourneys. I usually play between 3 and 8 tables at a time (yeah, I know, I have A.D.D.). I use it primarily to help make bet/check/raise/fold decisions.
Since I play many tables at a time, I don't always follow each players actions at a table to determine how they are playing. Using Gametime to show PokerTracker info on the table for each player, I am able to very quickly assess an opponent by identifying what percentage of the flops are they seeing, how ofter they make preflop raises, how ofetn they bet after the flop, etc. Basically, it tells me if I should handle an opponent with kid gloves or if I should punish them (in seconds). I literally do not even look at opponent names anymore. I identify people by categories.
I don't use PT while playing tournaments. I prefer to play only one at a time and I am able to pay attention to the action instead. Also I am not quite sure how/if PT accounts for different stages of a tourney. For me, tourneys are more of a "feel" thing.
My 2 cents: buy it outright. It will pay for itself in no time. It may take you a little while to figure out how it works, but once you have it down, you'll kick yourself for not buying it earlier.
