I usually tip a buck a pot as long as the pot isn't really small. If I'm winning little pots I'll just tip say every other pot. This may sound cheap but if I win a 10 dollar pot I'm probably not gonna tip. But where I've played Niagara and Brantford, the dealer pool tips, in Niagara they split with all the dealers (BJ etc.) so It's not like I'm hosing the one guy. If I win a large pot I have no problem throwing out a 2 dollar tip.
If I was tipping the individual I would be more inclined to put more thought into it.
At foxwoods, I tip $1 every pot I win after the flop (any level). No dealer keeps their own tips, they are all pooled. And most of the dealers aren't very good, so I rarely tip more than the $1/pot.
Oh, and good luck stealing the blinds at the 1/2 NL tables.

Heh, yeah that was just a wishful hypothetical! Have you ever seen them split up the tips there space? They do it in the wee hours of the morning in that main area on the other side wall from the poker area above the non smoking casino. Very cool, they take a craps table and dump all the tips on it and then sort them all out. It was quite a show.
