Hey everyone-
Played a $150 buy-in tournament last friday night. There were 6 tables. Started with 3K in chips, blinds started 25/50 and increased every 20 minutes.
Typically I am very successful when the cards break even. I tend toward Tight/Agg and try to change gears every so often.
My question is this, what do I do when I'm not getting any cards on a tight table? I wont bore you all with any boring hand details. This is not to say that I didn't have any playable hands. I just didn't have them in the right positions. I managed to last through 5 rounds and I got my money in with the best hand in every pot that I played. Just trying to figure out how I can improve my play in this situation.
what you can do is play a little more loosely/aggressively when you start to get short stacked in relation to the blinds.
you need to force situations just a little more, and make some steals, when the alternative is getting blinded into a situation where a double up (or triple up) will no longer help you.
waiting for perfect situations is fine when you're stack is deep and your position in the tourny is solid (or at least safe). once you start getting short, though (m<10), you have to start thinking about making moves and getting out of the kiddy pool.
