The cards are mocking me!

I cannot believe the awesome losing streak I've been on in PS lately. For 9 days now I've been card dead. I'm not sure how to play this situation. I've been seeing rag after rag in the pocket. If I get a wild hair and push with a marginal hand - it doesn't connect. On those rare occasions when my premium pockets show up, they don't connect. If (even rarer) they DO connect, I get smoked by a superior hand.

Several people noticed my pocket A's torn up in Q3 tourney 1 - it goes further than that; out of 5-6 times I've had pocket As in these last 9 days, I won once (I stole the blinds) one time I even hit an A for 3/kind - only to get smoked by a str8.

Now, I'm not the best player - admittedly. But, for 2 weeks previous to that I was maintaining even - playing consistently.

It's even impossible to bluff/semi-bluff/steal blinds/etc... I get call, call, call - even raises - so I know to lay down (I'm even seeing myself get peeled -orbit after orbit- NOT playing ANY hands (because none of them are worth a crap)

Ironically, I just defended PS in the "BSonPS tonight" thread - (it's been since then)

Did I suddenly (overnight) turn into the smallest fish in existence? Have you seen this evil scourge for yourself?

Today, i see a 6 7 off, and lay it down - flop rolls the 6 and turn is a 7 which would have put me on 2 pairs. I could see by the betting no one had 1 pair beat. Sure enough, one guy has pocket Qs (I would have had him) This is the first I noticed cards I laid down even would have panned out to be the winning hand in days.

Granted, I'm winning an occasional pot. But nowhere near enough to even get eme even in that session - let alone for 9 days... lol

Raise with a 7-2 offsuit, huh?

That's one way to make your own luck!

OK I see that posting a hand where I push w/ the numerically worst pocket, hammer to the river w/ the weakest concievable draw, and luck out to catch the miracle str8 draw of the day makes me look like a piss-poor player. Truth is, I don't have a ton of experience w/ poker. However, I'm not an idiot. (so much anyway) My intention here was to push this guy off the pot - he was putting thought into making his calls - I figured him for pairing w/ one of the flop cards - or having a med. pocket pair - I was bluffing (only time ever BTW) I was betting he wouldn't improve, and I could bet him off the pot (I didn't get a raise from him) He obviously wasn't laying down his Q's though so, as it happened the str8 was actually the only thing that got it for me - essentially by the river I was putting him on slow-playing As (he did raise pre-flop) Of course, by then I had him - I would have raised then, but his bet more than made my all-in. Obviously, no flush, no paired board, barring a higher str8, I had the absolute nuts at this point.

Essentially, it was the "true" hammer -both off suit and off color- AND it just happened to pay off... in the procession of a veeerrry long losing streak...

oddly, I got "true" hammer a few hands later, and laid it down. (not numerically due to win) Maybe I should have bet the trend though, I think I would have caught that one too. (it didn't actually get to showdown)

I put this 2 7 off story here to illustrate the irony of my post

Dimper, no insult intended. I got the irony. And my comment about making your own luck -- in this case by bluffing -- wasn't sarcasm. Better to raise than just limp in ... good things are more likely to happen if you take control and play aggressively.

I hope your streak gets better. Some days ya just gotta walk away and save your money for tomorrow!
