What a great week.

I took a trip to Atlantic City this week and of coure I played poker pretty much the whole time I was there. This past January I did the same, and ended up losing my whole bankroll ($1,200). This time I did a lot better though. I took up another $1,200 and probably played even more than I did in January, but only lost $800 this time. Not really anything to be proud of but at least it's an improvement.

My problem seemed to be that I would have a hand like K10 and hit my top pair and I couldn't let go of it. If there are 3 or more people in the hand should I pretty much assume that top pair is no good if everyone calls the flop?

These were $2/4 Hold'em games, by the way, so the players probably were not very good. I did play in a $3/6 game for around 45 minutes too while waiting for my seat in the $2/4 game.

Without even knowing the results, this sounds like a great trip. A full vacation of poker.

I'm going to vegas in a few weeks, last time I went I stuck mostly to the 2/4 limit table and did a freeze out tourney. Lat time I played mostly at the monte carlo which has a small room (9 tables) and they did have a no limit game with a min. buy-in of $100 and a max of $200. I'm thinking I'm going to the no limit table this time, too many chasers in limit. Last time on my last hand before I left I had AK suited and hit AK on the flop, I kept raising and another guy kept calling, suffice to say he hit a flush on the river and busted me for a big pot. No-limit I wonder if he would have chased had I been able to go all-in. We'll find out this time....

This is actually a complete fabrication.
I only played poker the first night I was up there... at the $2/4 tables. Originally they had a table on the screen that said "$1/2 Texas Hold'em" so I got on that list, then they called me and said my NL table was ready. I was like wtf? So I said okay how about a $2/4 table and I got right on. I played for 3 hours, only played 3 hands to a showdown, won all of them, and ended up +$80. I guess 2 sets and a flush will do that to you when people call 3 bets cold on the turn with top pair and a 2 kicker.

For the rest of the 5 days, I played craps and made a killing. Really, once I start playing craps I realize that my poker playing is done for the vacation. Even if I'm not doing very well at the craps tables I can't go back to poker... the people at poker tables must be depressed out of their minds or something because you can't get any of them to even crack a smile. We're playing for $2/4 for Chrissakes, not in the WSOP. Craps games are so much fun and the people are having such a good time that I find it impossible to go back to the poker room and look at a bunch of people who appear as if the next pot they lose will be the one that send the knife to their wrist.

Yeah, I didn't think I'd get much of a reaction... the people on 2+2 jump all over me if I make a post about losing $500 at $2/4 or whatever. You guys are no fun.

Now I think your fabrication is a fabrication, to cover horrible poker play.

No sir no sir.
Actually my poker play could still be considered horrible since I just played as tight as possible even though the table was as loose as could be. I probably should have been in a lot of pots with drawing hands trying to take advantage of everyone calling. But I didn't. I still won a little though, so that's fine with me. It sure as hell was more than I make at work for 3 hours.
