| Cards, booze, whoops We started having tournys at my local bar. $20bi and blinds double every time around. Usually 12-16 people and the tournys usually take less than 2 hours and we normally play 3. Aside from a couple of people the game is REALLY weak. Took the high end of a split in the 1st and low end of a split in the 2nd. So I'm up pretty good for the night and the drinks start going down a little quicker. About 1/4 way through I get what I think is 8,3 hearts on the button. Folded around and I call (sb and bb are horrible. they'de call a big raise w/ nothing pre-flop but lay down to any aggression post flop) SB limps and BB checks. Flop comes 4,8,9 . SB makes min bet and BB folds. He's got something, prob a 9. I call. Turn is 6h. He makes a good size bet. I know he would have gone all-in if he caught a flush. Figured he now had 2 pr or maybe a straight. River is a black 3. He bets what he has left and I call. He quickly turns over 7,10 and says "straight." I say "flush" and turn over 8h and 3..............diamonds! Whoops, no flush and 2 pr no good. A mistake I'd never make sober. And to top off the night I fought my way back into contention, got 4 handed, went all-in on button w/ q,8 w/ 600something w/ blinds at 100/200. Sb calls and BB folds. SB turns up j,8?!? Beautiful!......flop comes j,q,j. No happy ending. |
