My friend Art has put up a blog about his home game. It's really quite different from most home games in that he offers a lot of prizes, food, and cash during the night.

soounds like fun, i have big dreams about having some outrageous home game as well - but I guess if I want to do it w/o fear I have to get licensed as a poker room.
wow, that sounds awesome, but, with all this action isn't he just a little afraid of the "man"?
I'll tell you what - I worry about it enough for the both of us (I don't profit at all from the game except my own winnings). He's a really good guy and I understand why he's trying so hard to make his game the biggest around town. The growth has been phenomenal since the first time I went. As he starts upgrading his equipment it'll only get better.
He rakes about as much as the casinos do. I just know that one day someone who runs a different game around town is gonna rat him out though. Competition for available players is tight.
Be careful, they all ready busted 2 "home games" in this area. Both were raking and giving out free beer and food. Everyone was arrested including the players. One place was making 60k a month but the other was just a college student running a game from his apartment.
All it takes is one person to send a email with that site address to the feds/local police and hes all ready admitted guilt.
very very stupid if you ask me.
Its one thing to collect beer money but this is the kind of thing that gives home poker games a bad name.
