Chips: 9 | | | Can't believe I kept any of my money... Played last night with some friends. Playing six handed my buddy in consecutive hands gets: QQ, KK, KK, 88, QQ, AA. Luckily I didn't get anything to stay in with or I might have lost a bundle. Anyone else see anything like this? |

Chips: 9 | | No, nothing like that. We're all good friends and nobody is close to being a mechanic. Also, we usually rotate the deal. Just a crazy run of cards. |

If this is the case, see this thread for some help: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1713
The probablility of getting a pocket pair QQ or higher three consecutive times is on the order of 2.5x10^-6, or 1 in 400,000.
Probability of getting PP QQ or higher: 0.01357
Three in a row: 0.01357^3 = 0.00000250 |

Chips: 92 | | | A month ago, my buddy Had str8 flush to the Q and I had the bottom end of the str8 flush. I knew him so well that I folded on the turn. Save me a bundle. |

Chips: 2,131 | | | Probability of getting any pocket pair: 0.05882
Five times in a row: 0.05882^5 = 0.00000070, or 1 in 1,419,857. Still way better than the lottery, though.
Those kinds of odds approach what most people would call miraculous. But as poker players, we know that if it can happen, either we, or somebody else, has seen it already. Kind of changes your perspective on life, IMHO. |

Chips: 2,131 | | | Wow, now the probabilities are getting really small:
Probability of getting AA (or any particular PP): 0.004525
Probability of getting a non-AA PP: 0.05430
Probability of getting precisely the sequence AA, non-AA PP, AA, AA:
(0.004525)³ × (0.05430) = 5.031E-9, or 1 in 199 million! |
