What are the limits in your home game?

I played at a private club with a group of friends this week.

When we talked about limits, some people did not want to play a micro-cash game and ridiculed the idea of someone possibly betting 5 cents. At our table were three working guys, a retired guy and a law student.

We decided to make our smallest denomination 25 cents. The biggest single bet of the night was $5.

What's the smallest amount you bet in your home games?

Re: What are the limits in your home game?

I played in a 5c/10c blind game before xmas and enjoyed it. It was slightly smaller than my usual game but to me its about the fun and the challenge, not about the stakes

Re: What are the limits in your home game?

We play with penny's...

It can get pretty crazy though...I mean, if we are playing with .1, .5, .25, and $1 being the biggest denom. on the table and buying range from $15-$30...I have seen guys at this very penny game lose upwards of $60! LOL! It may not seem like a lot to some of you Big ballers, but $60 in a penny game is a pretty big swing...Of course it's a donk fest, but it's fun and for the most part it keeps it friendly...I also play at a couple home games that spread .25-.50 up to $2-$4 NLHE...Those games always end up with someone gettin all poopy and throwing cards or chips and making an ass out of himself over the money he has last...
It's the oposite for me, when I try to raise the limits get get some real cheddah on the table I get stink-eyed anf treated like I'm trying to bigtime everyone..LOL!
I'll keep it penny's, nickles and dimes...I hate getting punched in the face...Or seeing chippies get thrown around...

Re: What are the limits in your home game?

I initially hosted a .05/.10 home game 5 years ago.

Now I occasionally host a .25/.50 NLTH home game, buy-in is between $20-$40.

We always play .05/.10 to keep it low on costs while still having the fun. In the final hour it always gets out of control and people don't mind raising preflop 10x BB.

Re: What are the limits in your home game?

I play with a few different groups.

In the group that has been running the longest, we play dealer's choice with a .50 and $1 and $2 on the last two rounds. Most of the guys are 40+. Pretty old school dealer's choice.

In another group, we play dealer's choice with a spread limit of .50 - $3 and $5 on the last round.

My last group is my NL Hold'em group. Wide range of ages. I play mostly tourneys with this group, but when a cash game breaks out the limit is mostly .25/.50 or .5/1.00.

Normally 10/20p blinds, £20 buy in. Sometimes blinds of 25p/25p, depending on the chips .

Re: What are the limits in your home game?

I play in two. Mine and a friends.

Mine is a $1/$2NL with a $100min and $200 max. We loosen up the $200 max after the first few hours.

The other game I play in is bigger, $200 min and $500 max $1/$2 that plays closer to a $2/$5. He also runs a mixed game that's even bigger. It has $10/$20 Omaha and $2/$5NL mixed in with Stud and a few others. That game is too big and I'm not really into playing stud.

Re: What are the limits in your home game?

Our mostly weekly game is a $1/$2 NLH game with no minimum and a $200 max buy in. Sometimes it starts out as a $1/$1 game when it is short handed and might not change for the evening.

We have a family game that we play once or twice a year that is a .25/.50 game.

At work, once in a while (a lot of genuine, boss don't care down time) we do get a micro game going. Huge stakes, .05/.10 with a $5 max buy!!! It's cool cause we only get to play for about an hour and a half before work gets in the way or someone felts and says that's enough.
