Home cash game hand

Sorta bad beat but thats poker right.

apprx stacks.
UTG 450
Button(me) 300
SB 250
BB 300

UTG is a loosy goosy in a big way. Player who I play with a lot. His biggest tell when he is bluffing is he actually throws his chips towards you and his bet is usually larger normal hoping to not get a call.

ME--not quite live NIT but pretty tight.

SB--calling station..plays every hand..I 4 bet shove KK earlier in the night for about $200 and he came along with Q6o

BB tight(for live poker) good player..doesnt chase much..

blinds 1/2 hand is prob half way thru our 10 hour session

UTG raises to $10(means he has 2 cards)
folds to me(66), I 3bet ISO to $40...sb and bb call.

At this point UTG honestly has any 2.
SB..I can't really range him after the Q6o call when I 4 bet AI
BB...prob the hand Im most worried about..at worse mid SC's, mid PP or paint.

flop is 345 rbw...UTG quickly throws $125 in chips towards me so I was about 90% he had squat and 10% he had 2 pair or wheel but most likely he would slow play wheel. Figure he is putting me on high Ax and he tried to pressure me off that hand.--metagame wise this is pretty normal, folks know Im a bit tight and when I raise PF will call and bomb pot when no paint hits.

As I think for a moment I see both sb and bb have cards in hand waiting to fold...at this point Im almost positive I have best hand so I come over the top for $260 AI.

sb--bb fold...UTG counts and gets chips in very fast..I thought I mis-read the whole situation. He turns over A8o...

I was so shocked by his call I actually forget to burn a card when I deal...luckily everyone(including myself) noticed my mistake. I promptly thru out the next card and of course it was an A...no help on the river.(funny thing is the 8 would have been river if I continued my deal without burning a card)

Oddest thing was UTG told me he put me on a high Ax or a mid PP...which makes his call seem that much more foolish.

Home game/live poker---just nuts sometimes.

some people are degenerates, and some people play by their feelings, then we play by math and probability.

$135 to win $680.
He only needs to win 20%. IMO folding there is horrible; hard not to have >5 outs.

well maybe not horrible, but I'm calling.

Re: Home cash game hand

True...but thats assuming you even have an out.

We play cards together a lot and as a tight player most of the time (in his mind)Im doing this with a better A then his...so realistically you have to think you have 3 outs to catch your 8 or A if I had KK.

I rarely/never 3 bet small-mid PP's. usually just set mine them(live). So he has seen me show up in this situation many times with AK-AA-KK-AQ. IF we were playing online and I was just some dude your math is more then correct and a call is the way to go.

Of course I'm assuming he even pays attention to what hands I play/show. Which is prob questionable.

Re: Home cash game hand

You're forgetting his str8 draw - a two is almost always good. If you have an ace, the 8's good. If you don't, the ace is good. He's mostly got 7 outs ignoring a bunch of fairly unlikely holdings for you - aa,33,44,55,67,a2.

Re: Home cash game hand

i don't understand iso'ing given your read on the sb and utg. it looks to me like you're most likely looking at a threeway pot of 120 with only 260 behind and a situation where you're most likely going to have to fold the flop. the iso is best used if you can actually isolate, and if you can actually get the iso'd player to fold on the flop.

you're just not playing deep enough to have options on a raggedy flop imo.

Re: Home cash game hand

I totally agree ISOing the 66 was too weak of a hand in retrospect. I expected SB to call but was pretty shocked bb came along. I hadn't played a hand in about an hour so I figured they'd give me much more credit I guess.

Again this was just kind of a bad beat. He had 20-25 equity in hand so I win 4 out 5 times. Just wanted to post to hand for discussion. Im not really bitching some dummy called me bla bla bla.

Im fine with what happen had villian been playing his cards face up I would have done the same thing. So Im not totally wrecked over it... Thats poker right?

Re: Home cash game hand

Some people just call to gamble for a rush I think.
I have a lot of those in my game where their play never
makes sense. Those guys calling there and Q6 off PF are
just calling for the gamble rush. They have no skill what so
ever IMO except just catching cards when they have to.

I have em too but without em I prob wouldn't do as well, so we need them to catch cards sometimes. Biggest thing I learned is not to ***** or yell at them when they do it. Just let them think the "outplayed" you and move on. I get annoyed when the better players want to tap on the tank and give em hell for "bad"/"questionable" plays.

Guy who called me was about $1200 down at the time and proceeded to lose all the chips he won from me. Lost close to 1.5k for the night..had a great time and left smiling. He will be welcomed back to my house every time.

Re: Home cash game hand

Yup, Ive learned how to play against those players as there are ALOT of them in our game.
I am up HUGE for last year and they keep coming back. I just usually let out a WTF when I
lose and move on. Ive got over the questioning their play as in the long run they are hemoraging money and my bankroll for the year is fat because of it, so why ever hint they should change when they get their 10% lucky hits. I wish i could find more of the calling station donkey fish around here actually. Ive gotten used to playing with the extra lose wild players.
