Foxwoods Bad Beat Today

So I am playing in the 9 AM tournament and I am cruising along and have about $140K + chips after the 2nd break and when play starts back up, I look down and have AK of diamonds and raise it three times the BB and get one caller. Flop comes 246 of diamonds. I bet out and was re-raised and I re-raised him and he turned to me and said, I got the flush and I know you don't, so I am all-in. I had him 3 to 1 on the chip count, so it was an easy call and when I flipped over my ace high flush, he was shocked as he showed me his 57 of diamonds. The turn didn't help him and the river did as he hit the 8 of diamonds to get a straight flush.............

Very next hand, I am first to act, I look down at pocket 5's and limp in along with 4 overs. Flop comes down 5 A 5. I check, followed by two guys betting out with the next guy going all-in, followed by another all-in and now the action is on me, which with quads, I called both all-in bets. The other two players folded. Both players turn over their cards. Player # 1 has 3 4 and player # 2 has pocket aces. Before the turn card comes, another player says, I folded the last ace, hearing that I was like, oh yeah. Turn was a K and the River was a Ace.......... two player called over the floor manager and asked him to look in the muck pile to make sure the deck didn't have 5 aces as another player claimed he folded one. After confirming no other aces were in the pile, I was knocked out of the tournament just like that with two good hands and the bonehead that said he folded the ace, got an one round penalty for unsportsmanship. Brutal day at the poker table.................

I saw this once on TV. It was the new James Bond. I didn't care for him much, plus he should've been playing Baccarat.

Dude, that's a brutal pair of beats. Take solace in the fact that there isn't a damn thing you can do about either one of them.

Re: Foxwoods Bad Beat Today

I opened the thread expecting to hear that a large BBJ jackpot was hit for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Unfortunately not.

They would be some sick bad beats individually, but to take them back to back is unfathomable. You probably had a better shot of winning the lotto then getting bad beats like that back to back.

Quads over quads - sheesh. What are you going to do - NOT call? Please. Sometimes those 99% hands that flip can be brutal.

What really sucks is they have a bad beat jackpot there but tourneys don't count And they set the bar ridiculously high, quad 8s or better have to be beaten to get the jackpot.

The qualifier may be high but it hit within 30 days of the new policy (for 181k).

Also 2/5 NL+, 20/40 LHE+ doesn't count either.

That's ridic. At Borgata 5/10 NL just got added to the BBJ and the qualifier is 2222.

Re: Foxwoods Bad Beat Today

Those back-to-back beats were awful! Yuck!

Re the BBJs, of course tournaments wouldn't count. Would you play tournaments at a casino if the winner of each pot (over a certain size) had to hand over a real dollar for the BBJ pool? As for cash games, I take it that the higher-stakes players as a group prefer not to contribute to the BBJ pool in their bread-and-butter games, or those games wouldn't be exempt from the promotion. Some of those players do splash around in the lower-stakes games, however, when the jackpot gets to be really big.
