Playing a final table online with some cigar buddies. 45 entrants in a freeroll, top 2 finishers from each of 5 tables make the final table.
I got to my play-in table just in time. Logged in, played a single hand and folded my KK when an Ace hit and I was bet into (yes, they had an Ace). Had to sit out for 30-40 minutes. Came back to find it 5 handed, and I still had a decent stack. I hang on for 2nd place and make the final table.
Final table. I play tight, top 3 win cigars ($350, $300, $150 values). A few guys get double up, a few get short stacked, and I wait and wait for a decent hand.
LHO is chip leader, and has been over-raising and collecting many pots uncontested. Seems that each time I limp, I get popped with a raise and fold. A few times I connect with 2nd or bottom pair and get raised out of it.
Late in the game, I'm short stacked with 2 others. 2 chip leaders are bullying us around. We're bubble hunting, playing tight and avoiding the big stacks.
Wake up late in the BB wih AA and watch the table fold around.
I'm early and limp a few hands later wtih T8s, big stacks fold and small stack button calls, as does small stack SB. Flop comes 578 rainbow.
SB checks, and I make a pot sized bet to go all-in. Button calls and SB folds. Cards aren't shown until the end.
Turn is a 9. I feel good, still top pair, now OESD too.
River A, I'm not thrilled, and cards are shown... AT for villian and I'm out.
I guess it's not a horrible call, 2 overs and nothing says I wasn't just pushing 2 overs as well.
I'm pissed that I put myself in that position, but it doesn't take the sting away. I realize that we had the same OESD on the turn (after the money was in), but it just hurts more when he gets knocked out a few hands later.
Prior to pushing, I had 7 or 8 hands of T4, T2 and 95.
Arrggghhh, just neede to vent.
