-----> $21,646 ???

...was the total amount of the Bad Beat jackpot that I was not only a witness to, but was sitting at the table when it happened.

Now I have seen bad beats happen in card rooms before, but this was definitely my first experience of one occurring while I was sitting and playing at the table that it happened at.

Today I went to the Riverwind casino just on the south side of Norman, OK. I have played here many times and the poker room and the rest of the casino are extremely nice for being an Indian casino. Most of the other ones I have been to have been ratty little dumps. Anyways on to the good part...

I bought in for $100 at one of the $1-$2 NL tables and got into playing. After about an hour or so, I was up about $300 and had cleaned 2 different people out, twice. That's when "the hand" took place. I was in the BB and 4 other players limped in for the $2. I checked.

Flop comes:

I led out with a small bet and the 2 players to my left both folded. The next player to act, raised from $10 to $40. The player to his left, last to act... called. I promptly folded [thank god...].

Turn comes:

Now that the last 2 players were heads up, the guy in first position, decides to make his move and go All-In... and pushes the last $50 or so that he had into the pot. The guy he was HU against, insta-called and flipped over:

The dealer goes ahead and deals the river card before the All-In shows his hand and the River card comes:

That's when Mr. All-In flips his cards over to show his hand:

Thanks to the river card... we had Quad Js over Quad 7s and the bad beat jackpot was split amongst us. The loser in this hand took home $10,818 while the winner with the JJs took home $6488. The rest of the table split the difference between the 7 of us and each got a nice payday of $620.

I left soon after to go eat dinner but was up over $1200 off my $100 initial buy-in. Very exciting time... just wanted to share.

Very nice, I have never seen a "bad beat" jackpot in my life.

However this isn't as much of a bad beat jackpot as a "cooler" jackpot?

Not a bad payout for just being at the table.

Very cool...nice to know someone actually collects on these things. I've never been there when it happened.

Nice.
Yes, it definitely makes up for that day.
I was in such disbelief when it happened... but had to explain to the 3 "new" guys that had just sat down at the table and were on their 3rd hand as to what happened with the hand.... they had no idea that they were going to be getting over $600 and had only been playing for about 10 minutes.

AWESOME day yesterday !!!!!

Oh man this sounds awesome. I've only come close to this once when I had the winning hand, but a K on the river killed my kicker and I haven't gotten a chance to get "there" again since. The excitement of knowing you get part of a BBJ is awesome feeling, congrats!
