Chips: 409 | | | What's the dumbest move you've seen? Tonight I was playing a $6+.60 18 man tourney where the top 4 spots got a $26 token, and 5th got $4.
It was down to 5 players and I watched the big stack continually re-raise and essentially protect an all-in player. I saw it 4 times in the last 26 hands of the tourney. All 4 times he lost and doubled up the shorter stack that kept the tourney going. (I had to look through PT to see how many times he did this.)
The specific, most stupidest move (was so bad I had to use bad grammar) was this:
Blinds 250/500
Seat 5: RonArtest10 (3,065)
Seat 6: Naki19 (590)
Seat 7: bigpipe22 (3,130)
Seat 8: bighepper (16,945)
Seat 9: turning page (3,270)
bigpipe22 posts the small blind of 250
bighepper posts the big blind of 500
The button is in seat #6
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to turning page [Jc 8c]
turning page folds
RonArtest10 folds
Naki19 raises to 590, and is all in
bigpipe22 calls 340
bighepper has 15 seconds left to act
bighepper raises to 2,360
All he had to do was call 90 chips and check it down so there would be 2 players trying to eliminate 1... FWIW, he had 88 v KK.
What are the dumber moves you have seen repeated that show an obvious lack of understanding of very fundamental concepts? |

I'm crippled and about to be blinded out the next hand -- on the bubble!
Some idiot with lots of chips goes all in against the big stack and busts himself out with no money, handing me the cash. I'm gone the next hand of course, but with some $$. |

Usually a uber-noob playing live in B&M. 1/2nl game in a big hand situation there is a bet to him. He moves all in for $80 more and no sooner than he has finished pushing his chips out, he inexplicably tosses his cards directly into the muck! The dealer looks at him like ? And is forced to push the pot to the other guy who was still thinking about calling or folding.

Theres a guy who's been coming to my game lately that is dubbed "The bluff caller" for his ability to call bets on the river with nothing...but thinking his nothing is potentially better than a weaker bluff at him. I guess its better than his regular nickname (serial killer).

Not sure if this qualifies as a dumb move or a retarded move....
Guinness is playing against a fellow CTer (not on here a lot), the guy has borrowed $40 from Guinness previous to the hand. Guinness has the guy covered and the guy has like $55 in front of him. THe guy makes a bet on the turn of like $4, Guinness puts him all in....
The guy says, "Ok, here's the $40 I owe you and I call you"....lol, tried to pay off his debt before making the call... actually it was more funny than dumb or retarded.... well the fact that he was serious does kind of make it retarded... you da' man Phil.
I'm going to patent the "I'm lending you 75% of my stack before calling your all-in" move. Phil don't even try and steal that!

Arrowwood and me are very very very short stacked like 2-3x the BB each. Don't even remember the hand, but he bust out cause he's gotta go after guinness. Moves me and Arrowwood into the money - I went from being blinded out on the next hand to finishing 2nd.

I'm on the BB with 48o and it get's limped to me. I just check and the flop comes 8, 8, 2 rainbow. I check, one of my friend's friends raises and I push (didn't have much left in relation to the blinds). Still a pretty substantial push. He tanks, and calls eventually with KQo.
