p* says WELCOME HOME!

got back from 10 days in chicago without online poker (horror!), jumped online and fired up p*.

here's a hand from my first hour back

Saw Flop | Saw Turn | Saw River | Saw Showdown | Won

PokerStars Game #17272810644: Hold'em No Limit ($0.25/$0.50) - 2008/05/07 - 19:39:49 (ET)
Table 'Hertha IV' 6-max Seat #5 is the button

intersoler - $68.20
bythorian - $53.50
monster49 - $33.50
thejojobinks Button - $52.40
cdubbzz - $128.60

PREFLOP ($0.25/$0.50)
thejojobinks is Button with A Q
2 folds, thejojobinks raises $1.50 to $2, 1 fold, intersoler calls $1.50.

FLOP $4.25 (2 players)
7 Q Q
intersoler checks, thejojobinks bets $2.75 (he's c/r'ed the flop twice already, so i make a weak lead), intersoler calls $2.75.

TURN $9.75 (2 players)
7 Q Q 7
intersoler checks, thejojobinks checks behind hoping he hits his flush on teh river.

RIVER $9.75 (2 players)
7 Q Q 7 2
intersoler bets $6, thejojobinks raises $41.65 to $47.65, intersoler calls $41.65, presumably with a queen, right?

SHOW DOWN
thejojobinks shows A Q
intersoler shows 7 7
intersoler collected $103.05 from pot

Final Pot: $105.05

Re: p* says WELCOME HOME!

That is a nasty hand tbh, but why such a big overbet on the river?

Surely you want him to call there?? unless the over-bet was meant to act as a bluff and you have a read on him?

i figure he has a queen or a seven. obv he calls 100% of the time either bet with a queen, and some of the time with a 7.
  • if i raise to 15 and he calls 100% of the time with a 7 i win an additional $9
  • if i raise to $47and he calls 40% of the time with a 7 i win an additional $41*.40= $16.40

if he calls 100% of the time with the small bet and only 22% of the time when i make the shove, it's breakeven (.22*41=9). i figure him to call more than that.

i dont think there's anything he would call a $10 bet with that he wouldn't call a $40 one with. it's either a q or a 7 most of the time or hes folding.
