Fly someplace nearby and rent a car. Grand Canyon for instance. Or So Cal and take a commuter flight. That may be cheaper overall so you can spend the savings on the hotel. Or maybe fly to AZ and rent a motor home.

Very cool L. I am actually looking at flying in on Sat 6/28 but won't get there until later. Hopefully you'll make it to day two and I can sweat you a bit!

Thanks for the support Tom. I'd play an earlier event but the other guys from the league are all going that week. Althugh if I do cash, thee is this WSOP event that starts on Thu 7/3.

I see flights (direct) out of detroit for $300. Take a look at expedia for flights and hotels$750 should be plenty.

Thanks again for the well wishes and thanks to those who gave suggestions on travel. I ended up finding what I think is a good deal. Round trip from Detroit and 5 nights at TI for $650. (the wifey has decided not to go)

So, plans are all set. Now the wait begins.

Well, as it turns out, I am NOT staying at TI. Apparently, when you book with Orbitz (prob same with others), they have to confirm flight requests with the airline. I received an email this morning saying that Spirit could not confirm the original flights and that I would need to re-book. Of course, the TI package was now $900.

Soooooo, I ended up booking Imperial Palace/US Air for a little less than the original TI package. A little disappointed but hey, it's just a room (that I won't see much ).
