Bad beats received today in sit-n-gos

J J loses to Q2 all in preflop after a board of AK38

AA loses to QQ all in preflop

KT loses to A4 after a board of 777K and all the chips go in

and finally

98 loses to 85 all in preflop when a heart 4-flush hits on the river

These hands either eliminated me or made my stack so low I may as well have been eliminated. I'd be rich if it weren't for variance. Whining over. Time to read a book.

Re: Bad beats received today in sit-n-gos

Try not to get discouraged. I'm sure you know that bad play can often be rewarded, and it seems to happen in bunches. The other night, I played two LIMIT sit-n-go's....and did not win a SINGLE hand. Two tournies. Had AA and JJ and QQ twice. I know limit is much more prone to draws and redraws, but not ONE dang hand out of like 120.

Frustrated, I sat down at a pot-limit table and promptly doubled my buy-in within the first orbit.

Re: Bad beats received today in sit-n-gos

I continue to see very loose play in the game, both Live and Online. My personal observations are that due to the international flavor of online, you get a little bit more wild play. I don't want to offend anyone, and it's only my personal take, but I tend to see a little more "wildness" in Canadian and German players. I know it's a generalization, but just my personal observation. Flame on, if you wish.

There isn't a single bad play here on your part. I'll assume all in with 98 was short stack play. Getting beat by one outers is part of the game, keep up the good play and your time will come.

4 players, CO folds, LAG button is chip leader and limps for 200, SB completes, I have 1700 remaining after posting the BB and move all-in. Button folds in .01 seconds, SB thinks for about ten seconds and calls. What does he think I have?

I sucked this guy in at the Low-Blind level after he did a 3BB raise and I moved all-in. My comment to him after a Q came on the turn was "nice call".

4 players, Mid-Blinds. Everybody checks the flop, Villain pot bets the turn, I push all-in, everybody folds and I've got him dead to 3 outs. River is an A. What did he think I had?

I've got 7BB on the button, 4 players. CO folds, I push, pot is 8.5BB. SB folds. BB has a decent chipstack, has been a bit loose and aggressive but not maniacally so, is getting 8.5 to 6 odds, and decides that his chips are so unimportant that he calls. It doesn't matter what he thought I had, this is horrible poker.

I'm working my way up to your $20+ freezeouts and $20 NLHE side games. I've been getting all your emails and I look forward to playing sometime. I've also been getting Evites from somebody who plays in your game regarding another game here on the south side. His house is less than a mile from where I live, so I've got two tourneys to attend once I get my game and bankroll up to where I feel comfortable.

Stay clear of the game on the south side if you are just learning the game. Very nice basement set-up and very experienced players.

That sounds like good advice to me.
