WTF Thursday

I decided to burn a little time tonight playing after Mrs. Sparky and little Maggie went to bed.
Two hands from the action.
I tend to overbet pocket pairs since I hate it when someone calls with rags and cracks my pairs.

First hand at the table, no reads on anybody:
PokerStars Game #15136667727: Hold'em No Limit ($0.10/$0.25)
Seat #6 is the button
Seat 4: fold_a_pair ($5 in chips)
Seat 5: khmerpoker1 ($15.65 in chips)
Seat 6: 4220_max ($15 in chips)
Seat 9: Jumangi666 ($4.35 in chips)
Jumangi666: posts small blind $0.10
fold_a_pair: posts big blind $0.25
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to fold_a_pair [ ]
khmerpoker1: calls $0.25
4220_max: folds
Jumangi666: calls $0.15
fold_a_pair: raises $0.75 to $1
khmerpoker1: calls $0.75
Jumangi666: folds
*** FLOP *** [ ]
fold_a_pair: bets $4 and is all-in
khmerpoker1: calls $4
*** TURN * RIVER *** [ ] [] []
*** SHOW DOWN ***
fold_a_pair: shows [ ] (two pair, Tens and Sixes)
khmerpoker1: mucked [ ]
fold_a_pair collected $9.75 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***Total pot $10.25 | Rake $0.50

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another hand a few minutes later.
I realize that after the turn, two players had big draws, but why get into a pot with only a pair after the flop?
There is a flush draw there, and they are betting everything on a straight draw.
Hold'em No Limit ($0.10/$0.25) 23:45:38 (ET)
Table 'Ijiraq III' 9-max
Seat #7 is the button
Seat 1: moses hole ($17.80 in chips)

Seat 7: AMensa ($12.75 in chips)
Seat 8: labeach2002 ($13.40 in chips)
Seat 9: Jumangi666 ($3.90 in chips)

jaxson57: calls $2.75 and is all-in
labeach2002: calls $3.40
*** TURN *** [ ] []

*** RIVER *** [ ] []
*** SHOW DOWN ***

fold_a_pair collected $14.75 from side pot-2
fold_a_pair collected $2.55 from side pot-1
fold_a_pair collected $11.45 from main pot
labeach2002: shows [ ] (two pair, Sixes and Fours)
Jumangi666: mucked [ ]
jaxson57: mucked [ ]

I stayed for another 15 minutes until the players changed, and then took my winnings away. Now I can afford another Chip Talk tourney.

Re: WTF Thursday

Well I'm glad that something went well for you tonight. I just got done on full tilt after putting $50 on. Went to the 6-max .10-.25 table and lost half of that in one hand, my KK vs. his AQo. All-in pre flop, spikes his A on the river. Story of my life as far as FT is concerned. It just puzzles me somtimes how people will shove here, with no hesitation might I add, with a hand like AQ offsuit. Especially to a raise and a rr. Cheers.

Re: WTF Thursday

I finally had a good night playing.
Dealt good cards, had a few decent flops, and plenty of willing participants.

if it says "mucked" then how is it that you know what hand they had?

Maybe i'm still tired from my marathon poker session the past couple of days, so apologies in advance but if it says "player mucked......" even the hand history won't show the hand right? It will only show if "player showed......." At least that's how i remember pokerstars to work. or am i just half asleep right now at work?

The hand history does show what the players mucked. I'm willing to bet Sparky just copied and pasted the hand histories from Stars and then just added the code (or whatever it's called) to show the card images. I'm fairly certain this is only for players that hung around to showdown though.

wow, you're correct. I just checked some hand histories and it indeed does show only if you played to the showdown. I wonder why they did this. I would have thought that mucking is mucking and the hand history SHOULD NOT show the losing hand if mucked. A lot of info can be garnered from this data.

Yep.
If a played mucks at showdown, you can look at the hand history and it will show what was mucked.
I entered the code for the cards to make it more readable.
(Look below the smilies for card codes in the reply area)

Re: WTF Thursday

I've always been curious about the history showing mucked cards. I think it must have something to do with your ability, in a live game, to request to see the cards of a player who called you at showdown.

This is generally considered a "**** move" in live play, but online it's as simple as clicking the hand history.

I always thought it made sense to maybe make the mucked cards available for a few minutes after a hand, much like you would only have a short period of time to request such a thing at a live table, and then they'd disappear.

But, that's not how the interweb works.

Sparky - nice job on taking down some nice pots.
