Yes he was. He was up and down wildly all night. Seemingly playing with no sense of the other players -- stack sizes, who's in and who's folded, who's left to play after him, etc.

Each player had his reasons, of course. I'm not a fan of getting overly cautious near the bubble. But even a semi-reasonable play just doesn't make any sense against a micro-mini-stack on the bubble.

You have to be very cautious on the bubble. Even if the big stack pushes and shows you 32o, I'm not really sure you can call him with Q8o. Sure, you're 2:1 to win, but does the equity that you gain 66% of the time >> the equity you keep 100% by folding? Because if 32o sucks out, you are BUSTO and your equity is 0.

I ran this situation through sng wizard. If the SB big stack pushes with 100% of his hands, the 2nd place guy can't call from the BB unless he has 88+, or he's spewing equity to the rest of the table. If the SB is tight enough that he pushes only 45% of his hands (this includes all aces, all kings, any pair, most queens, J7s+, T8s+), BB can't call unless he wakes up to JJ+,AKs

Just to play devil's advocate..

He could have been making the call to accumulate some chips to try and take down 1st. Some people just aren't happy with a 3rd place finish and guaranteed money, they want to move up to take a run at #1.

Then again..with the blinds that high, it's just going to be luck there at the end anyway..so who knows.

Worked out pretty well for you though!

I would disagree with you on this one. IMO considering everything that was posted by the OP, it was a piss poor play to defend his blinds with that hand. Since, the goal is too cash and tomb is going to be blinded out, it's an easy fold.

That's partly why The_Venetian is a winning player and jaxrwild_2x was on super tilt. One knows how to play, the other one knows how to lose.

Only thing that could make any sense but no doubt is wrong anyway because he is a losing player is that he is a cheat and could see the other players hole cards. If he could and saw that he had the other player dominated he would call. This is the only logical explanation. The actual answer though would be that the guy is a MORON. Thanks for his username he can go on my ATM list.
