7-2 MAJOR Suckout

I was playing a friendly, yet competitive .05/.10 NL cash game tonight and all the players (all friends or friends of friends) agreed on the 72 rule, which would pay .25 per person to the person who won with the 7-2. I was tight most of the night, and tried a steal with a 72 suited but got 2 callers and had the action stolen from me after the flop.

After not getting many hands and being short stacked, i finally got another 7-2 and decided to play it until the bitter end. I raised preflo to my standard $.35 and got 3 callers. Flop comes J88 and is checked around to the last player, player A, who bets half my stack. It is folded back around to me and i decided to push as i didn't put the player on a jack or an 8. He calls with a jack, and i am just about dead. An eight comes on the turn, and i am further buried into my grave and am getting ready to leave. Then a card is burned, and the river is flipped over...

AN EIGHT HITS THE RIVER!, making quad-8s on the board with a jack-kicker. We end up splitting the pot and as i split a pot with 7-2 everyone had to pay me $.15. Sad thing was that the player was mentioning that the only card that can save me was the case-8 and lo and behold, it was spiked on the river!

Re: 7-2 MAJOR Suckout

I've never been a fan of the 7-2 game, I guess I'm just getting boring in my old age. LOL! Risk vs. Reward???

Re: 7-2 MAJOR Suckout

The more my home game plays with the 7-2 hammer rule in effect, the more I like it.
I think it adds a certain "Zing" to the game, especially when someone raises or re-raises from out of the blue when a 2 and a 7 hit the board.

Also, when I'm dealt 7-2 now, I no longer dread it when the rule is in effect.

Don't mess with the hammer!

He still cashed $350 for 2nd place. Which is nice considering he didn't even log in. His car broke down before the tourney but since it was an all-in fest it didn't matter.

Forgive me, but I don't understand. How is this different from playing the lottery?

Yeah I had no idea what it was either. Some dude at 2+2 thought it would be fun to have a tourney with everybody all-in. And he staked the prize pool, so it was a complete freeroll. Here's the link: **NEW UPDATED** 1k Flipament Freeroll (NOW ON FTP) - Page 104 - Two Plus Two Forums
