Chips: 458 | | | Worst session of my life... even lost w SF Feeling a little sick right now... I just dropped over 3 buy-ins in a $3-5 NL game where I let some really sick suck-outs get the best of me. I am really just upset with myself that I donked off so much $ in my last two hands knowing I was beat, just because I was beat mentally.
My 3 favorite suckout hands of the night (out of quite a few) were the following...
First hand of the night:
In BB, UTG raises to $15, called around to me, I call $10 w A8os. Flop comes 8c8dJc. I bet $70, folds around to loose passive (LP) in MP who calls my hand then calls my bet, folds around to maniac on button who pushes. I push AI, LP calls my hand again, then calls the bet w Q8. Maniac has 4c2c. Q on the turn and I didn't improve. 1 buy-in down.
Quite a few rediculous hands, some poor play, two table changes, and a couple hundo more these two beauties happen:
MP (who just sat down for his first hand) limps, BTN w $53 infront of him raises to $25. I am in SB and see AA, and that the BB is going to fold. I smooth call to suck in the MP, who calls. (can argue that was a big mistake.) Flop QJ5 rainbow. I check, MP bets $25, BTN goes AI for $28, I raise to $110. MP takes his time (looking weak) and pushes, I call, he has Q9os and announces a trip to the ATM right when he hits another Q. BTN shows KK FWIW. 2 buy-ins down.
Very next hand, 3 limpers, I'm on the BTN w 9sTs, and raise to $30. A nit, and poor player in BB tells the dealer "I'm only playing these for you." Flop comes 2s 3s, 5s. Checks around to me, I bet $100 with a bit of a slam on the table. Old nit goes all in, folds to me, I call and show my 9Ts he says "oh my, I'm in big trouble. 4s on the turn and I'm drawing dead to his straight flush. As on the river puts a wheel sf on the board.
I lost with a sf to a 7 card sf. 3 buy-ins down. At least I got a "straight flush hat" to make up for my loss on those two hands!
Got back a fair amount of it and lost the rest of it on my last two hands, both of which I knew where I was the whole hand through and just didn't care anymore when the vilains hit a boat, and trips respectively to my higher two pair. (I had top two in both hands)
So at any rate, it is the last paragraph here where I am dissapointed. I had a few spirts of really good play, and a few spirts of "I just did what?" play. It's just so frustrating knowing how much $$$ I tilted off between the suckouts I couldn't change.
I've lost more money before in bigger buy-in games, but that is the most I have ever lost in a $3-5 game. |

Went back this evening, and my first hand I had JJ in the BB... flop came QJ6 and the vilain had QQ.
Second hand of the night (about half an orbit later) I open raise from MP w AhJs 2 callers, SB raises to $40 (acted very nervous and I put him on KK+) BB calls, I make lousy call and the other 2 players call. 5 to the flop ~$200 in the pot. Flop Th 8h 6h BB goes all in for $136. I go all in and hope he has KK so I at least have the extra 3 outs. As it stood, I was getting over 2.5:1 on my money and he was only 60%-40%. Needless to say, I didn't get there. Throw in couple hand against AA and KK and it was a short night.
Time to take a little time off I think. |

Chips: 458 | | | Re: Worst session of my life... even lost w SF it was on the board... flop 5s 3s 2s, turn 4s, river As... that means I chop with anyone in the hand that doesn't have the 6s... the vilian in that hand happened to have 6s7s and when all the money went in on the flop, he was drawing dead to the 4s, which gave him the sf... the river gave me a sf, and gave him a 7 card sf. Symantecs, I know. Just frustrating. |

Chips: 823 | | | Re: Worst session of my life... even lost w SF I feel you bro. I lost $400 last night after disguising a set on the flop, going on all in the turn, then some donkey calling on a Jack high flush draw only to complete on the river. The last time I loaded up, the same thing happened (flop set, allin on the turn with no flush or straights represented) but a guy calls and completes a straight on the river. I'm talking major all in's after the turn, not the flop, and people calling with dismal odds.
Online SUCKS. I only did well online when I used to stick to tournaments a few years ago and I think thats the only option I can take for future online sessions. Cash games are riddled with morons and thats not a good thing when the moron factor is 2 to 1 at a table. Its just a bunch of idiots swapping money with each other in my experience. I love B&M! Please open a casino in NH. |

There are some vicious cycles in HE and you are getting the worst of it lately. Unfortunately in NL the swings are particularly big. Keep getting it in with the best of it and eventually it HAS TO even out.

Nanook | Thanks Nanook... I know it's variance, and I play a pretty agressive high variance style. I am very used to taking $1k swings everytime I hit the table, usually the swings are up AND down, not just down. It was just a little rough having the worst beating of my life (buy-in wise) to bad suckouts and then matching it the next day.
What's really sick though is how hot I had been running before hand. Even after these two sessions I am at 9BB/hr over the last 3 months, so I definately had my fair share of possitive variance before this weekend.
I know I mixed in some pretty bad tilted play with the bad luck, so I am really looking back at what I could have done differently in those hands and re-evaluate my play for a bit.
Taking the week off and should be back at it on Friday. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
