Micro-nlhe Frenzy

This evening i have played a bord-game with some friends. The board game was really a pita...6 quite competitive guys, everybody wants to win and the rules of the game were lost. As you can imagine...it was discussion, discussion and even more discussion. At one point we searched the rules on the internet and even then people argued that the know the game in another way and those rules can´t be correct. After 4 hours a friend has won and everybody was so frustrated from that game, except the winner, that everybody wanted to play a nice poker game.
So we decided to play a five-handed cash-game.
Normally we played with blinds of 2c/5c......but everybody raised like it is 5c/10c. So i said lets play 5c/10c then we have "normal" poker. everybody was ok with that. But peple only wanted to buy-in for €3, very smallstacked!
First hand, i hold AA.
Raised to 30c from early positon, thre callers. F
Fllop: A queen and two not connected lower cards.
I bet 3 thirds of the pot, which was about 90c.
One calls, the other two fold.
Turn: Another low card.
I push my last €2 all in, the other guy calls and had AQ. No help for him so I doubled up. After that first hand, we decided to lower the blinds to the usual 2c/5c.
A few hand later I hit a fullHouse on the flop. Slowplayed it against an aggressive player and only called his bets. On the river, he went all in. I call and win. a few hands later, the guy i have felted with the full house has just rebuyed. Miniraise preflop, I called with 67o. Thre Players in the Pot, flop: 3J4
1st position bets 10c, i call. button also calls. turn: 3J4--->5. Wow...i just hit again. 1st position bets, i call, button raises. 1st position folds, i call. River: 3J45--->T. I bet a third of the pot, the other guy pushes all in with AJ. I called him and raked in the next big pot. After a few hours and some more big wins i found myself in a heads up with The last guy who really wanted to win some money back. That guy mostly plays his opponents and his reads of them, which are often quite good, than his cards.
My stack was ~€37 and his ~€8. We decided to raise the blinds to 5c/10 again. In the first period of the heads up i only got bullshit like 34o 92o and so on.
He nearly raised every pot and got up to nearly €20 after 30mins.
Than he raised 4BB preflop, i was quite desperate because of the ugly hands i got dealt. So i called him with 64o. Flop:26K He makes a good bet, i called again. Turn: 26K--->4 He bets again, i raise him big and he calls. river :....dont remember. Pot was something about €12. He checks, i bet another €5 and he calls. I won again. 20 minutes later, I took his last money from him after he ran into my pocket kings.
The outcome: I bought in with €3 for 2c/5c game and finished with nearly €45. Nobody has won anything, except me, i won it all.
Now it is 6 o´clock in the morning and i am really tired but even much happier than tired.
Just had to write this down here, because there is nobody else atm to tell it.
Have a good night

Re: Micro-nlhe Frenzy

Sounds like you had a good time. Thats all that counts. The money is always good, but in such a low stakes game, the moral of the story is that you enjoyed yourself. Theres nothing like playing all night long, and not having to worry about the rent if you lose a few pots.

Great game. How in the world could you all not figure out the rules?!?! They are quite straight forward if you have a copy of them...

Perhaps you had the Japanese translation.

Felix said in the oP that "the rules of the game were lost."

Problem 1: The game instructions were lost.
We used the "knights&cities" addon. Most discussion was wether you are allowed to build a settlement between two roads that belong to you. Then two guys went crazy, if you were allowed to build a road if the other player has a "inactive" knight at the end of his road. One guy said: a knight is a knight, you can´t build a road there, the other guy said: a deactivated knight can do nothing, he even cant block a crossroads. We found out later, after downloading the game-instructions, that, like i thought, even the deactivated knight blocks the road.
Biggest problem was, we have been six very competitive guys. So at some points discussion started to get personal about how the people behave or get impolite during their argumentations. Everybody was thinking a long time during his move, so there was a lot of waiting-time between your moves. I prefer to play the game with 4 players.

This explains everything. Anybody could figure out vanilla Settlers. I still don't understand how to play with the "knights&cities" expansion.

I'm a vanilla Settlers fan, maybe throw in Seafarers, 4 to 5 players. I kicked Cities & Knights to the curb.

My favorite Catan game, however, is Starfarers (Sternenfahrer). You get to shake your rocketship to see how far you get to move.

Poker AND Settlers in the same game session? Nice...
