Chips: 19 | | My Worst Beat Ever (grab a tissue) Well, I have told this story many times, usually I tell it to make another player feel better about a bad beat they had just taken. Everytime someone tells me a boo-hoo story abouut "Cracked Aces" I let out a small smile and say "I got one even better, let me tell you about the worst beat in history" And now, I will share it with you all, here at chiptalk Rarely in life (thankfully) do such events occur. But this story, is sure to make you feel better about any bad beats you have ever had. What is a bad beat? Well, I consider a bad beat, any had that you were favored to win early, by a HUGE margin, and wind up losing. How about this, I FLOP a FULL HOUSE, and lose to a Queen high. Just Queen high. Now more than likely, at this point, you are doing what everyone does when I start this story, saying "What? That does not make sense, or that is not possible" And you are probably assuming that something happend and I accidently mucked my hand etc, nope, none of the above. It goes exacty like this. The day I almost quit poker. I am in a NL tournament in REAL LIFE when this beat slammed me into the reality of how unfair things can be sometimes. I am dealt 7h 7d in the big blind. Early position makes it double the blind, and everyone fold to the small blind, who calls, and I figure, with a pair, I will see the flop. And what a flop it was 7s 3s 3d. The board was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, I flopped the boat. There is almost nothing as nice to see. The only thing nicer, is having the small blind, make a move, and push all in, and that is exactly what happened. Well, I am seriously trying to get the early position raiser to call as well, I know I am calling. I do my best to sheepishly call, but early position folds. So now, it is just me and SB. SB announces, "Well, I guess I need a spade" and turns over Qs Js showing the spade flush draw. I am so happy at this point, I almost don't know what to do, my opponent is drawing dead to the flush!! Even if he catches spades, my boat kills him, I almost want a spade to fall, any spade, since he has no straight flush draw. Still wondering how I lost this hand? Keep reading. At this point, I am just waiting for the formality of the turn and river to collect my chips, now becoming chip leader, leaving SB crippled, and easy prey, but, things were not to be. On the turn I see 3h. Still no problem as far as I can see, even if a Q or J comes on the river, I still win with 7's over, to his 3's over, no problem, I am golden. Then it happens, and it happens in slow motion, it was like bullet time from the matrix. The dealer burns a card, and turns up the river.....3c. It was not even apparent to me immediately, I never in a million years even thought about this happening. My flopped full house, just became garbage. I lost to a guy who was hoping on a Q high flush, against my Full House. Who made Quad 3's, Q kicker, vs my Quad 3's 7 kicker. So now you know how a flopped full house, can lose to a Q high. Next time you hear someone boo-hoo about getting beat by someone who goes "perfect-perfect" to take a pot, you tell em this story, about Sonny. Who has the worst beat in history. Ok, maybe not the worst in history, but it sucked just the same! |

Chips: 273 | | | Re: My Worst Beat Ever (grab a tissue) I can still make you feel better. While that is devasting, I FLOPPED Quads, and LOST, after we were ALL IN after the flop. I lost to a runner, runner straight flush. This was in an online cash tournment while were in the money. This hand, combined with losing 8 straight times when I had AA vs AK is why I will not play online for cash anymore.
I wasn't trying to trump your bad beat, just trying to give you a little pick me up with, "It can be worse". Losing with 4 of a kind to a runner runner sucks. |

Chips: 14,006 | | | Re: My Worst Beat Ever (grab a tissue) meh, I've lost aces full to quad 6s when I had pocket AA and the other guy stayed in with 36 off (claiming pot odds). Flop was xA6, turn 6, river 6. That's worse.
