Chips: 1,728 | | | Brag post - big tournament cash !! I played in the 2nd Annual Vincent Lecavalier Texas Holdem Celebrity Poker Tournament last night. The event is to benefit the pediatric cancer center at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Got to play poker with several players from the Tampa Bay Lightning - Vinny Lecavalier, Marty St. Louis, Brad Richards, Tim Taylor, Chris Gratton, Andre Roy - plus other local celebrities. A total of 240 players raised over $150,000 for the charity. Had a really great time and chopped the final table for a payout of $5406. |

I'd have to think that if the Toronto Maple Laughs had a similar celebrity poker tournament, the NHLers would completely crush the competition... I mean, surely they must be good at something, and it isn't hockey... |

Action folded to me in the small blind and I push all in with pocket 9's. Big blind thinks a while then says he has been running good and calls with J8c. Flops both a straight and flush draw, needing a 9 for the straight. Fortunately my 99 holds up and I double up. Other situation is on the money bubble with 11 players left. Blinds are at 20,000/40,000 and I am next in the BB with only 24,000 left. We are playing hand for hand and someone busts at the other table. Redraw for seats at the final table and I get the button thereby dodging a blind all in. I mostly just played strong hands aggressively and dodged confrontations with big stacks. Only suckout was early on when Lightning captain Tim Taylor rivered a straight to my flopped set but fortunately I had him covered. It was also a bounty tournament and I knocked out 3 celebrities getting cool autographed stuff. There was also a time limit on the tournament. With 5 minutes left they announced blinds would go from 20,000/40,000 to 50,000/100,000 effectively blinding anyone in. At that point we decided to avoid the crapshoot and chop. |

I doubled up early and avoided the rebuy and the add on. I did not like the stucture but played anyway because it was for charity and I got to knock back some beer with my favorite hockey players. Overall a great evening. |

I absolutely get the star factor and that must have been a great time. I'd be lovin' life regardless of structure if I was playing Boston sports teams while putting back a few. The chop was just icing on the cake. Congrats. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
