Chips: 2,037 | | | Poker is NOT a Joke....AKA Donkey Play of the night! Playing at the Local Indian Casino tonight. This scenerio was a first for me.
$1/$2 NLHE Full 10 player table
Middle Position (aprox $40), Timid, tight, played only limped hands for two hours, never raised.
SB Happy go lucky jokester (Aprox 210), having a great time, yapping all night.
BB ME (Aprox $280)
A couple limpers
MP RAISES to $12 to go!
Fold to SB, Jokester calls
ME checks cards and find Pocket 8's, call hoping to spike an 8
Everyone else folds
Flop comes A K J
SB Checks
I don't like the looks of this flop so I decide to toss out $10 just to see if MP
has a smallish PP and would fold, or caught some of this.
MP Declares "All in" and pushes his $30 remaining into the pot which pretty much tells me what I want to know. As I am thinking about how fast I can fold,
SB picks up his cards and tosses then twards the middle of the table while jokingly saying "I'm All in too"
I freeze and look at the dealer, who immeadiatly calls "Floor"
She explains to the floor what the situation is and the floor rules SB All in and cards in the muck are dead.
Dealer pulls the SB's $200 into the center, takes $30 off the top for the All in from MP and looks at me.
It's $20 additional to call the All in from MP and I look at the SB with $170 raise in front of him and no cards
Hummmmm..................Me thinks these are good Pot Odds!
Interesting night at the tables
Also got Quad Kings and got paid off
And won the a raffle for the Card Player Cruise to the Mexican Riv the first week of Dec.
GOD I LOVE POKER!

Wouldn't his all-in not be binding as he had tossed his cards into the muck before declaring all-in? |

Side note/story - I saw a similar situation in a tourney I played in at the TI in Vegas a couple months ago: Player to my right and the player to my left had been "Batling" all night. PLayer to my right was a more conservative pkayer while the one to the left was loose and very aggressive. in one hand player to my right goes all in - player to my left thinks for a few minutes - does his standard hollywood act and then states "I'll call you" pauses then says "Just kidding". Everyone looks at him - floor is called and obviously the verbal declaration is binding. guy to my right pushe AI with pocket kings - joker to my left had 7-4 off suit. As murphys law suggests flop came 7,4, rag and no help to the player on my right. Had his kings cracked by that annoying play |

I did not see the exact timimg of the cards and declaration.
I do know he decalred All In before the cards hit the table, they may have been out
of his hand, but were definitly not on the table.

He should have said, "me too" or "I can only give ya TWO" or any of the other lines that we jokesters like to use. I guess he knows NOW that you don't say "ALL IN" at the table, much like you don't say "BOMB" in an airport. Not necessarily illegal but could get you tackled.
$170 and you're holding 88 against nothing-nothing? Only decision is if we want a friend or $170
On a side note, I had a co-worker say, "Man, that chick was the BOMB!" in the airport last week. The other two of us looked at him as if he'd just run around the concourse naked. Idiot. The scenery *is* quite nice but if you're going to make stupid comments lets keep it non-threatening, shall we?

Out of curiosity, did he throw them into the muck or did the dealer scoop them there? Could his hand have been reconstructed?
