I played a T2500 fundraiser tourney on Sunday. 70 players, $75 buy in. pays 7 places. $600 for first (for charity). Yearly tourney.
The details on how I managed to fall from table captain to railbird in this tourney are summarized in four hands and the mistakes I made in three but I just wan't to rant for about two minutes. ----- Don't try and get cute with hands. ---- I doubled my stack in 45 minutes with good cards and aggressive play sticking to HOH basics.
Becuase of this I got stupid and decided to limp with 8-9o on the button and A-Qo in early position. Plays I wouldn't normally make and it cost me. Should have folded or raised 8-9 and raised A-Q. I did this to try and mix up my play BUT in hindsight there is NO reason to do this. I've only played with three people at the tourney and none at my table. Mixing up your play in a short tourney is NOT the answer.
