Today I played in my first casino cash game, and I thought I would let you all know how it went.
I played at my local Indian casino (Riverwind Casino, Goldsby, OK). I played $1-$2 No Limit Holdem game. I bought in for $100 at noon and cashed out for $230 at 8:00pm.
There were no great suckouts, bad beats, or really interesting stories to tell - just straight up poker for the most part. I was all-in about 5 times and my high points and low points were $267 and $23 respectively.
The best part of the day was the learning experience. I was suprised by how much my chips would vanish on one bad hand and then reappear on one good hand. We usually play $0.25 blinds in my garage, so I was not really used to the $200 swings in this game. I also realized how much I have to learn in the way of staying focused on the fundamentals of poker and not lose sight of always making good decisions. Its too easy to make bad decisions when you are just going through the motions. This is one of the main reasons I wanted to play for that length of time - to test myself on a solid session of poker.
Overall, it was a great day. The people were friendly, and I learned alot. I plan to go back next week and test my skill and try my luck again.
One last thing, the tables were nice but I did not like the chips. They are Chipcos and my stacks were all full of spinners. They did not shuffle well either. I don't know if this is a common thing with Chipcos or if it was just these chips, but I consider them garbage next to my PNYs (I still brought some home for my collection though). Here is a link to pics of the chips
