Don't Look Like a Donkey

I took a day off work to visit Atlantic City this week to save my Comp points from expiring, shoot a little craps, and play some poker. I surely hope that folks on this board are smarter than this donkey.

I'm sitting in seat 10 playing $1/$2 no-limit when the donkey walks up to seat 9 and asks what the red chips are. All AC chips have standard colors so there is no question this is the first time this donkey has walked into an AC poker room. I was probably the only one that got a clear look at him and heard the question. About 5 minutes later seat 5 opens up, donkey sits down, and buys in for $100. Donkey then proceeds to limp in the first 3 pots after he sits and shows down 2 of the 3, with trash. In the 4th hand since donkey sat, I get pocket 6s in the BB with 5 limpers. I raised to $12 get some of them out and 3 fold. Flop is 6, A, 3 rainbow. I bet $15 and donkey raises to $40. Other limper folds. Yum, Yum!! It's obvious that donkey has aces but he didn't reraise pre-flop so there's no way he has pocket aces. I put him all-in and he calls immediately with A-J. Thank God he didn't suck out.

My point to this post is that if you are new to poker, use some brains. He practically "eee aaah'ed" (donkey sound?) prior to walking up to the table and announced, "PLEASE TAKE MY CHIPS!" I almost felt bad to oblige him. My only regret is that I didn't drive my car (it was an old-timers day-trip bus) so that I could stay until his entire bankroll was in my stack.

CT'ers, Please be smarter than this donkey!

Mike

JoJo,

I sense that you feel there wasn't much chance of a suck out. I didn't put in my original post that the turn paired the 3. An Ace on the river would have beat me.

Re: Don't Look Like a Donkey

Nice pot - but why did you raise with the 6's? Surely the objective is to get a multiway pot and hope to flop the set.

I'm certainly no expert, just wondering why?

Re: Don't Look Like a Donkey

I just ordered this for fun at my home games.

Biggest donk move has to wear them the rest of the night, kinda like the dunce hat in the classroom.

I'm bringing them to Vegas at the end of the month, and plan to find a way (side bet?) to make one of my friend wear them at the poker table.

Dazzler,

Great question and it is one I have been debating myself for a couple days. My thinking at the time was get everyone out and get heads up. I'm not sure that I would have gotten much more action because the table was pretty tight and I was ultra tight. They would have read me as strong immediately.
