Chips: 2,443 | | | I laid down kings last night 1/2/5NL game last night.
I could tell it was going to be a fun game. The first pot of the night ended up over $400 (folded pre-flop, missed the flop completely). Anyways, about 2 hours into the game I was up about 300 and I was the button with KK and one caller behind me, I decided to bump it small, $15 to go. The small blind folds, the big blind makes it $40. The limper folds.
I looked at the big blind and I swear that her eyes got wider when she looked at her cards again. I've played with her a half dozen or so times over the last couple of months. Something just screamed ACES!!!!! I turned my hand over face up and slid it to the dealer. Heard alot of "WTF", "you're laying that down?", etc. I said "show me your aces". She flipped over two black aces. Lot of stunned players looking at me. Lot of people got out of my way for a while after that hand. |

Thats a great feeling when you can pull that off. I managed to lay down KK in a very similar situation. Although I had to do a lot more footwork and get the guy talking.
Congrats.

Twice to 99% in recent memory - although the one time was QQ, I had the KK last Friday - fortunate for me he only had like $13 in front of him with AA. I had $80 and it would have been gone.

You know I ended up with aboout $115 at the end of the night, One hand I have K,K utg and just call the blinds, it goesa all the way around to Tim in the BB and he goes all-in (I was waiting for this play from him) SNAP! I call, and win about $40 to his Q,9 os....I love sitting to his left....

The times I've made the laydown is when either I bump preflop, next person re-raises and the third guy moves in. Other situation is when one person bumps it up, I raise with KK and the original raiser moves in. If you read ultimate strength its a good laydown even if you are wrong everynow and then. Laying it down straight away like that is world class though. Definately had a good read and its always nice when the opponent give you respect by showing the AA after you fold face up. |
