my bad beat at borgata wpt event

well i went to ac and played in the borgata winter open a wpt event. i played in event #1 buy in was $500+60 there ended up being somewhere like 1400 people in the event. hugh field. anyway..
finally got to a table where they did not break up it was like 8 hrs into play. 5 min before the dinner break(i know should never play last hands or first hands of rounds) anyway. i was on button (blinds were 400-800-100ante) middle position player raises to 3,000 2 callers before it gets to me. i had 30,000 in chips and was like 3rd at the table in chips. so i look down and have 5,7 spades. i say to my self i feel lucky plus it was only 3000 to getinto a pot with 10.-11,000 so i called feeling lucky. small and big blind fold.
flop comes out. 5,3,7 rainbow. i go wow i knew i felt good... so the original raiser bets out 6000 the other 2 fold it to me. i push all in another 20,000 on top of his 6000 raise. so its back to the raiser sits there for like 2-3 min thinking. im saying to myself i have to have him so he finally decides to call another 20,000 . i flip over 2 pr and he shows pocket 8's i was like yeah baby... im gonna be the chip leader at the table... so the turn comes out an A and the river comes out an A to give him 2 pr A's and 8"s over my 2 pr. i was so pissed off ... and was out in like 500th place... really sucked out on me.....

Where was the bubble? If there was 1400 players, you should have been somewhere near it at 500.

BTW - You should never play the hand that busts you out -- whether it the first or last of a blind level, or somewhere in between.

Dont mean to thread jack but that has to be a contended for quote of the year. Just Brilliant lol.

Hard luck man, but as Doyle would say "Thats Poker", it never makes it any easier but he sure says it often.

Re: my bad beat at borgata wpt event

that sucks.

mine last year was:

middle position with 66 and a bunch of limpers, flop come 66A. i call a small bet, call, call, button re-raise. blah, blah, blah.

what more could i ask for...huge pot right before the night was supposed to end. i would be sitting in pretty good condition for the start of the next day.

runner runner quad 8's - off to catch some zzz's then the $200 second chance tourney.

When WPT shows their hand percentages, would this qualify for the vaunted "Villian has 0.5% chance to win after the flop" graphic?

yep -but worse

5 known cards (your 3 plus the flop)

need 2 exact cards to fall turn and river -

2/47 * 1/46

2/2162

about 1 in 1081

if cards are flipped up after the flop (and you know the other 2)
2/45 * 1/44

or like 1 in 990

both are around .1% to win

the .5% might stem from them having the other hole cards in the equation

Don't these tourneys usually only payout about 10% of the field? Or were you talking about the bubble for making the next day (if it's a 2-day event)

EDIT: Saw they only paid top 100... that's awful ~_~

Re: my bad beat at borgata wpt event

I meant money bubble... I figured it would be some where around 300 or so (20%)... But I guess not!
