So last week, I was in vegas about 9 days for the consumer electronics show. 150k extra people in town, many running around drunk after the show... some playing cards..
I've been going to vegas since the first years of comdex and this is by far the funniest story I have from playing poker down there.... Not to mention one of my best nights at the 1/2 NLHE tables.
Its a quasi long story, but i'd like to share... If I took life too seriously, i would be really po'd over the night, but i think life is to short to get mad over a game.
Here goes:
Late night, 2:30am-ish, I am playing at a 1-2 NL HE table as I had done nearly every night of the week that I was there (without any problems). I've given up on the limit tables in vegas, because I am not there to grind... Just looking to play poker and have fun.
Anyway, I am at a nearly full table, bought in for $250.... few large stacks at the table. Its pretty obvious that about half the table is serious and the other half is either drunk or new to the game. New dealer comes in, and first hand out the gate she miss calls the winner & I point out one guy has a straight. She shoots me a glance and I think nothing of it, the winner who didnt even realize he hit a straight

offers me $25 of the pot - I decline it knowing I can't take money from others at the table. No problems.
A few hours roll by and I hit a HUGE rush... JJ, AA, TT, QQ, and a 57 boat on the flop. Long story short, two guys across the table start guessing my cards aloud. I am laughing because I have been hitting crazy cards and getting paid off with a few all-in bets. I'd ran my stack up to over $1k.
Few hands later (i had been playing fairly lag preflop and tag post), dude across the table asks me if I have AA again, I jokingly say nope, KK... The dealer who I corrected at the start of my session, had just rotated back in - calls the poker room manager over and he reprimands me about making any comments about my hand. I protest slightly saying that the two across from me have been guessing my cards aloud for the past few hands. He says that they can do that, and I retort "but he's [one of the drunks] not even in the hand yadda yadda"... he warns me & walks away. says nothing to the other guys...
within the next five or so hands I hit QQ AGAIN!! and end up going all-in against one of the drunk players - who has QQ and a good sized ($400) stack.... I laugh, knock hands with guy expecting to chop... nope, I hit a flush

and am now one of the biggest stacks at the table.
the QQ drunk guy rebuys for $300. This guy is irate.... he starts asking what my cards are every SINGLE hand... & nothing is being done by the poker room manager, being he's basically given them a free pass to harash me.
Eventually, I wind up against the ******* and his punk buddy, and end up taking down his recently purchased stack....but in the process, his drunk buddy, who had action asks what I have again... I calmly say I have AA again, and he folds. I thought it was pretty obvious that I was betting a straight. Of course, the manager immediately gets called over again, and is visibly pissed. He'd pretty much had it with the entire table and tells me I need to leave.
"Leave? Why do I need to leave?" - Security ensues, and they get ready to walk me out.... Now mind you, I've dropped over 2K staying at this casino and mutter something along the lines I will never stay there again.... but I can tell he isnt very happy.... and I start racking over $2k in chips.. another semi-reasonable (~$800) stack at the table gets pissed because the guy (me) who can actually pay him off is being walked out the door due to the drunks for repeatedly haranging me... LOL...
long story short, the guy in a wheel chair who had been cool all night blurts out the poker room managers actions were crap... he's pissed that his chance at my money is being taken away by these drunks who were annoying everyone.
The guy in the wheel chair (prob third in chips) suggests to the other decent sized stacks that they should all leave and screw the drunks...So as I am being walked out, three of them yell to me to wait and we'll all go the bellago.... I wait, security asks that I wait outside.... I'm cool with it, and I wait by the doors for the others at the table.
Basically 75% of the money at the table leaves with me in protest!!!
It was freaking classic seeing the looks on the faces of the remaining drunks when it sunk in.... through their antics, their money, as well as most of the money at the table was leaving... and they would have no chance to get it back... LMAO
Yeah, I was probably wrong to get into it with them, but I wasnt drunk nor was I being nearly as out of line as them. i am a jovial and mild mannered person on and off the table & these guys were flat out drunk jerks.
I ended up buying rounds for the other players and dropped a few hundred in the process, but had a great time playing until 8am at bellagios... I even used the drunks money to upgrade my flight home to first class.
HAHA!!
Just thought I'd share.... There's probably a moral in the story somewhere, but i'll just leave it at vegas karma.
