Chips: 1,455 | | | 4 Hands in a row, sent me home... So i'm playing at Hollywood Park in the poker & ponies tourney on tuesday morning ....buy in is $20 + 10 entry, $20 add-on and multi-rebuy for first hour.....
anyhoot, we're down to the final 2 tables, and my chip stack is about 50k...
its just above average, however the top 3 chip stacks are at my table, one being directly to my left.....
so we reconvene for the final 2 tables, and i'm utg, i see JJ....
the blinds are 2k - 4k w/ 1k ante.....
so the pot starts off at 16k....
i raise it to 23k, everyone folds to one guy just b4 the cutoff, and he's played w/ me at the previous tables, and knows i've been pretty solid yet puts me on a low pp and says he's gonna go all in...
he has A10 os....
the flop is KK 10....turn is a 4....river is a 10......
he takes an extra 3k ontop of my raise, so i'm down to about 25k.....
i was a bit perturbed by his "call" but at the same time was ready to move forward ....
next hand i'm in the BB, blinds the same, i have 77....
mp calls the bb, button calls, sb calls and i raise to 13k.....
mp calls, button and sb fold....
mp has about 3k in chips left....
the flop is 7 k 10 w/ 2 spades......
i went all in, he calls w/ 2 4 of spades.....
turn is a spade, he take about 16k from me....
now i'm sitting down on about 9k...
i have k8 in the sb, there are 2 callers + BB left....
i decide to fold, however, i would've flopped 2 pair and would've quadrupuled up against QK, K10 and AA.....oh well,...
final hand, i'm on the button, look down to see AA......hoping someone raises....
one guy raises all else fold, he has 10 10....
flop is a 10 2 5....turn a 4....river a 9......bye bye....
i got 15th place and $140.....worse than a cheap hooker....not worth the time and no real satisfaction |

It appears as though you raise different amounts with different types of hands. You made it 23k to go with JJ and 13k to go with 77, just an observation. Different raises like that can make you very predictable against good players.
I'm suprised that no one raised on the K8 hand. Anyway, with that whacky blind structure it is hard to fault the guy with AT for moving in, after all he only has about 6 BBs. |

Chips: 1,455 | | | Re: 4 Hands in a row, sent me home... yes, the structure gets very "speed pokery" towards the end of the tournament....and if its ever confirmed that everyone is in the money....
it becomes a literal all in fest with any A, any 2 face and suited connectors.....specifically for that reason too.....
yea, i didnt fault the A10 , his excuse was he had to go home at 5pm, but either way, no blame ...just observance....
thanks for pointing out my radical raises, i will try and adjust my game

With 4 people in the pot - you wanted to either move in or just check preflop with the 77. You were given the chance to drag a wrecking ball through the field for cheap- take it. Don't commit only a portion of your chips here. Best case - you hit a set and get multiple players to stay. Worst case - you raise and the button pushes you allin. In the end- you actually had a good result with the play of the hand (you isolated against the short stack), but it is a risky play. |

Chips: 504 | | | Re: 4 Hands in a row, sent me home... Why does MP only _call_ your raise from the BB, and leave himself with 3k in chips?...with 2 4 of spades?.....thats pretty dumb....Im also not too fond of raising 13k from the BB in this spot with the 7's. You had the right idea, but your perfect play as I see it is either checking or pushing, as your raise pretty much commits you anyways, and you're looking for some fold equity against 3 other players....Who knows, With 2 people behind him left to act MP might have folded his hand looking down at 2 4 of spades for all his chips since you had him covered, but who knows, probably not since he only left himself 3k, haha...I mean really, you want this moron calling here knowing what his cards are, but the cards broke his way on a ridiculous call.
Not trying to criticize your play, just arm chair quarterbacking which we all know is much easier to do then being in certain situations...still a good finish imo.
