Played a live tournament this weekend, and didn't make it a single orbit. $1500 in chips to start.

A few hands in I'm on the button. A/K spades, comes to me with a few of limpers. I raise $150 (blinds $25).

Flop - Q J 10 rainbow. First to act goes all-in, everybody folds, I call. He shows two pair, and hits his full house on the turn.

I'm left with $50. With blinds only a two hands away, I see K 10, and raise to my all-in. With six limpers I can win $300. Flop comes K 10 Rag, rainbow. Everybody folds to a better who turns over 8 3 diamonds. Running diamonds give him a flush.

Sometimes it doesn't matter how good you are - you're simply screwed from the moment you arrive.

I have no idea. I went home.

I don't feel bad at all. The greatest poker players in the world would have fared no better in my shoes that day.

I know poker is 80 percent luck on the very best of days. Over the long term you hope the 20 percent that is skill will keep you on the positive side.
