Ouch...just ouch

Playing in our regular tourney game tonight. New guy calls a re-raise with QJo and hits 2-pair on the turn to bust my AQ. But that's not the bad beat.

It's down to 6 and I'm dealing (since newbie bounced me) - blinds 50-100. UTG raises to 325. UTG+1 raises AI to 550. Folds around to Newb...he asks me how much and then calls with no hesitation.

Flop: A26

UTG checks (he saw Newb bust me, so he's wary). Newb bets out 200 or so. UTG folds (QTo) because he knows Newb is capable of anything. UTG+1 (AllIn) flips over A8s, Newb flips over.........

J2o!

Turn comes 6. Newb now has 2 outs (Jack no help, suits don't matter).

And the river you ask? Well, of course it was a deuce! giving Newb trips over UTG+1 AA66. UTG+1 must have said "Unbelievable" about 4-5 times.

Newb ends up coming in 3rd out of 12. When he eventually went out, he called a preflop raise with Q6o. Flop comes A67. When the turn is a 7 he pushes. Opponent calls with AK and ends his night.

Sounds like the "perfect" guy to invite to the Cash game after the tourney

Re: Ouch...just ouch

Sounds like my buddy Scott. He has earned himself the dubious title of Seymore Flops due to his inability to fold anything before the flop. I even watched him call an $8 raise preflop with the hammer followed by a $10 raise post flop when a two came up to give him bottom pair. He gets lucky about once every five or six games though (enough to keep him comming back ) and sucks out on everyone to win big.

I like Draw Monkey and Sir Raise Alot, we'll have to add Seymore to the mix

UTG+1 here. FL70 told me he had to post this hand, so I figured I'd chime in... not a fun hand for me. I did my best Phil Helmuth where, completely unnaturally, my hands went to my head after the 2 fell and knocked my hat off.

Then I got up and went outside... meh, bad play on his part, but a nice enough guy.

Coincidentally this past weekend FL70 hit a two outer on the river with his pocket 4s. Much better play beforehand though,

Re: Ouch...just ouch

There's a guy in our home game who's last name is Fung. He is the king of the 2pr draw. He KNOWS you have the Ace, and he has bottom pair (like a 4 or something) with a King kicker, but he calls huge bets hoping to hit the 2nd pair. We now call the 2pr suckout "The Fung", no matter who does it. It's part of the vernacular. (Also applies to small trips, as shown in OP.)

"Dude, I think you're ahead, but I'm so gonna Fung you."

Check-caller pushes on river, shows 2 pr suckout "Ha ha, you just got Funged!"

Pretty sure this will be a universal term used in all poker rooms within a couple of years.

Sorry you got Funged.
