| First Casino Trip... So my 21st birthday was a few weeks ago, and since I was at a competition near a casino this weekend, my parents decided to take me to the Indian Reservation casino near the competition - the Seneca Allegany.
So it went alright, I lost a $200 pot when I got all in with AA vs other guys 44 and he caught a 4 on the flop, but after that I played solid and went from about 100 in the hole to only about 60 in the hole. There was a guy there with about $2500 at the 1/2 table that kinda killed the action whenever he was involved (not only did he have everyone covered by like $2K, but he was squeaky tight).
I also kept a $1 chip as a souvenir (unfortunately I couldn't find any that weren't kinda dirty, but hopefully there's a way I can clean it?). The chips were nice. I'm in LOVE with ceramics after handling the Chipcos they have there (I looked online and i guess they recently switched from Paulsons to Chipco... I was gonna post a picture off of Google of the chip I kept but I can't find it anywhere). They shuffle so easily (I was easily shuffling my stack of 20 $5 chips) and the inlays look great...
Anyways, back to the actual poker. Even though I ended up down due to Aces getting cracked, and the fact I was only able to play for about 4 hours (I was there for about an hour and a half after that hand) the trip did instill some confidence in me, and teach me some lessons. I seemed to be playing a really good loose-aggressive game, as the reason I got all in with the 4s was because I'd been making small raises preflop with a lot of different hands from late position (QJs, KQ, AT) etc and a few of the players noticed that I was raising with these nonpremium hands, so they started playing back at me preflop. I was taking a lot of pots down on the flop so I was slowly grinding up (of course with some variance up and down since I was raising so much). I can't wait to get back to a casino and play again (I'll probably go to the Borgata/Taj next since I live about an hour away from AC... just gotta save up a few hundred for the trip)
on a side note... anybody know where I can get an air-tite cheap to put my chip from there in? I figure I can use it as a card cover since my cardplayer smurf always falls over. |
