I don't normally like to go on about bad beats, but I have been having so many that I just have to vent. It seems like I am constantly losing to people who are hitting 2, 3 or 4 outers, but when I am behind with as many as 15 outs I can't get any help to save my life! (Never mind me ever hitting a 2 outer when I need it to survive!) Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels like this. I really don't want to get paranoid that the universe has it in for me! |

Just remember that in the long run you will undoubtedly come out ahead by playing accordingly when the odds are or aren't in your favor.
You just can't argue with the math.

Personally, rarely does a bad beat bother me any more. I've simply accepted them as part of life, especially online. Occasionally, one will get to me but its usually a convergence of several things go wrong at one table or across multiple tables online. |

My theory is that if you play poker in a way that you often find yourself ahead when the cards are turned over then you are generally trying to dodge luck from your opponent. With that in mind, there are fewer times when you will need to hit your card(s) to help you win a hand and more times you will have to dodge your opponents hitting their card(s) so those times when you need to hit your card are magnafied and those times when your opponent hits seem to happen often...but I think the "numbers" do actually work out over time.
But that's just what I tell myself so that I feel better when I end up on the wrong end of running cards or don't hit my outs. |

2 outers beating me has just become routine the past few weeks.

Keep doing this and you will be a winning poker player in the long run. I hosted a $20 freezeout the other night and lost 2/3 of my stack when my nut straight got cracked by top 2 pair filling up to make a boat on the river, all the money went in on the turn. |

In this time, both live/online play completely blows. I will be 95% to win, and start closing everything down knowing that that 5% will come through, and I will lose.
But, I have never had a losing month, and things always seem to swing back to my favor eventually...

Recently I have been ahead on the turn with hands as strong as the nut flush, a full house, a straight and top trips, and have lost when the river completes a stronger hand for my opponent.
I feel like I have been playing my best game for months and running unlucky. A friend of mine told me maybe I should quit poker my luck is so bad!
I can handle the bad beats--that's poker--it's the general unluckiness like never catching flops, bad starting hands, losing races--that kills me.
So, I commiserate with you. |

Now, when I say BUSTO I mean < $200 bankroll. I'm busto because I can't play in the games that I want to, I have to drop. So not absolute BUSTO but I can't play games that significantly contribute to my income.
That's alright, I'll win a $4.40 and be able to get back in the $22's
