I mean, yeah, it looks like a horrible beat because of the way Hold'em is dealt (3, then 1, then 1), but it's not at all. The guy with the best hand when the money went in won. How he won is irrelevant, aside from everyone OOOOOOHHHHHHing and AHHHHHHHHHHHHHing. |

2 7 vs. A A
Flop A A 3
Turn 4

there is a .30% chance of winning with running cards for quads in the hand you described...
a worse beat would be 3/8 against AA, and the flop coming 8-9-A, the odds of an underpair hitting quads to surpass top set is .10%
the situation you mentioned is actually the fourth or fifth worse beat you could take...
I believe Doyle Brunson once got runners for a royal flush against flopped quads in a cash game. I'd have to dig it up to have more details. |

River 5 | this is also a favorite to win .10% of the time after the flop... |

Listen, wangfaces, it doesn't matter WHAT THE HANDS LOOK LIKE DEALT OUT. All that matters is when the money went in and how many outs the underdog had.
Example 1:
Player 1 - JsTs, Player 2 - 5h5d
Player 1 goes all in preflop, player 2 calls.
Flops is 5s 5c Qs, turn is Ks, river is As.
This is NOT a bad beat. It was a coin flip when the money went in.
Example 2:
Player 1 - JsTs, Player 2 - 5h5d
Players call preflop.
Flop is 5s 5c Qs
Player 1 goes all in, Player 2 calls.
Turn is As, river is Ks.
This IS a bad beat. When the money went in, Player 1 had to hit two perfect cards.
THE END. NO MORE BAD BEAT POSTS UNLESS IT'S REALLY A BAD BEAT. |

River 5 | Am I missing something or is this a small straight flush (good in yahtzee) vs quad As. I guess you meant to have the A "spades" on the flop, or.....
I am just missing the whole point of the message | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
