$30 buy in NLHE tournament. 5000T starting chips, 4th blind level (200-400)
I am chip leader at the table with 17700 in chips.
I am in the SB with K

7

.
Folds around to the button who limps for 400, I call 200 more and BB checks.
Flop is K

J

8

. I bet 1200, BB goes in the tank.... finally calls. Button folds.
Turn is 8

. My read tells me that the BB was not helped by that card and is on a draw. I consider the BB to be a pretty good player so I tried to come up with an amount that would be just enough to make calling for a flush draw a mistake so I bet 2400 into a 3600 pot.
I may be wrong but here is my train of thought. I put him on A

rag (not 8

) for the nut flush draw. I figured it gave him 3 aces and 9 clubs for 12 cards to hit to beat me, 12 out of 44 is 3.67 to 1 and I was giving him 2.5 to 1 with my bet. Does this make sense?
Anyway, he goes back in the tank. I am starting to feel really good about my read and now hope for a call.
He finally makes the call. The river is Q

. Now I put out what I thought was a value bet of 1600, not expecting a call. He min raises 1600 and now I am confused. I make the crying call and he turns over A

T

for broadway!
I am stunned. I thought he was on a draw and was right but I never expected a gutshot draw! For some reason this hand put me tilt a little more than it should have, maybe because since I was trying to price out flush/overpair draws the gutshot straight blindsided me. I think I am finally (5 hours later) putting it behind me. I still have confidence in my reads, I just stopped listening to them while I was tilting. I know I want that call every time.
This game sure can mess with your head.
