my first and hopefully last bad beat thread

at spaceman spiff's home game. 5k buyin with rebuys for an hour. 16 or so tonight.

at the final table, i make a big call, and now i have 60k/100k chips in play, with 6 left.

the situation is essentially the same with 3 left. i have 68k. CT member irun8s has 24k, and the shortstack has the remaining 8k. <---estimates, but close

irun8s is a maniac. he's pushed all in 20 times at this final table, and actively seeks to engage me, even though i'm the only one that can bust him. he's the one that doubled me up to 60k originally. i'm letting him run over me for the most part, looking for a spot to bust him.

on the button, irun8s declares he's putting the shortstack allin. shortstack calls and i call with T8, looking to get headsup for the tournament.

flop comes
AT8. i check. irun8s pushes, and i call. he shows A7 for top pair to my bottom 2. the smallstack has nothing.

Board: Ac Td 8s
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 71.3131 % 71.31% 00.00% { T8o }
Hand 2: 28.6869 % 28.69% 00.00% { A7o }

he turns an A.

the very first hand of headsup play. he has 72k to my 28k.

from the button, i limp with 94o. irun8s clearly wants to raise, but decides to check (be careful).

flop comes T94, to give me bottom two again. 6k in the pot. he bets 6k, i raise to 16k. he pushes and i call in a shot. he shows QQ. woohoo!

Board: Tc 9h 4s
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 71.3131 % 71.31% 00.00% { 94o }
Hand 2: 28.6869 % 28.69% 00.00% { QQ }

the turn is a 4, to give me a boat.

Board: Tc 9h 4s 4d
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 95.4545 % 95.45% 00.00% { 94o }
Hand 2: 04.5455 % 04.55% 00.00% { QQ }

river? that's right. the Q.

thank you, good night. it doesn't seem that bad, right? he was 28% to beat me each time. but to win both in a row, he's something like 8%.

then i won $75 in the 1/2 NL ring game.

Re: my first and hopefully last bad beat thread

Your suppose to fold 94 and 108 arent you? :P

Sorry about the beats, I've had a ton lately.

short examples: i had KQo rasied small preflop. 3 callers. flop x Q Q i raise 2x last bet, 1 caller. flop X. Bet 4x first bet he calls. Turn 10. i bet 5x first bet, he adds about 20x first bet and i had to call. He showed Q10o and i lost about 90bucks.
Second beat in the same night, mostly my fault. short handed 5 players. i rasie with AQo, Flop A X X all clubs. i rasie 2x first bet 1 caller.I had Q of clubs. Turn another Club. i double my flop bet, he calls. river i bet he pushes in. i only had about 20bucks, and this was the same guy that crushed me for 90 earlier that night, and i thought maybe he had the jack or 10 and was trying to push me out. he showed, K7 clubs and flopped the nut flush, and played me off like a sucker.

Home games are suppose to be friendly (ours usualy are but lately its been a bit wild) but eh some guys just rub it in and want to break you then show no compassion when you know you couldnt fold and they had you trapped.

nah. with the T8, i'm calling 5k (of my 70k) in order to bust a short stack, knowing the other big stack is unlikely to put me in any tough situations.

with the 94, we're headsup. i'm not going to fold anything headsup with a reasonable stack (and no raise), and my stack is plenty reasonable here.

Re: my first and hopefully last bad beat thread

If I wrote a poker book, chapter one would be titled:

'Flopping two pair with trash will destroy your bankroll'

3c7c in the hole, 364 flop with two diamonds. bet most of the pot, get called. Ace on the turn, bet most of the pot, get called. diamond for the river to make a possible flush, I lead out for 50% of the flop. moron shows me 99, and has rivered a set of nines. one over/straight draw/flush draw and he calls it down to hit the 2-outer. note that this player didn't raise as UTG in a 4-handed game with pocket nines. so the 95% favorite lost here.

3d6d in the hole, 3-6-A flop with two clubs, player bets and I reraise, call....rag on turn...bets into me again...I push all in for $14 into an $8 pot to end this flush draw, call...Ace on the river and lost to A4 offsuit....A4o decided his top pair was best and called a $14 bet, of course my 86% favorite didn't hold up.

No offence man

Was it really a $5,000 buyin or chipstack?

Then if he didn't have +1, how do you know it was negative? Grey could be either from someone with none or negative rep.
