The most boring poker in the world

Wife crashes early on friday night - so I can crank up some games.

I have been playing a lot of SnG poker recently - and have been doing very well shorthanded - and headsup. Stars had a $20 HU tournament starting.

Won the 1st round in like 15 minutes (some of these guys will just not fold with only overcards).

Had about 45 minutes of downtime until the round was finished. Not a problem - as I jump into a limit ring game for a bit.

Next round - starts, opponent is sitting out. And sitting out. And sitting out. Dude is disconnected, and never returns. I cannot figure out how he made it to the second round - unless he was a first round bye.

I would rather have played and lost than sit through blinding this guy out. Stars gives you like 20 seconds - and then the time bank. They also reset the time bank - started at 2:00, then 1:30, then 1:00, then 30 seconds. Finally - after 4-5 rounds they removed it.

Sure - an easy win, but the most tedious poker task I have ever been through. I was one of the last 3 games completed for that round, and the only flops that I saw were the final 3 allins (to increase the pain, he actually won the 1st two allins).

Won the next round, but lost the followup when QQ preflop got crippled (paired his K on the turn) and never recovered.

The good news - I cashed so at least I got paid for my boredom.

At least you got something out of it, when I first read the title of this thread I thought maybe you were talking about the WPT Orange County vs Trading Spaces episode that aired in my area over the weekend....

Thanks JM!

I mean I would rather watch pro players anyday, but as a rule I do not mind the celebrity matches since in many cases they do a little homework and end up making (mainly) reasonable decisions but in this case, it was bad. I feel for the announcers as they really earned their paycheck trying to explain what the heck was going on.

There was one on last weekend - The "Heartland Poker Tour" or something like that.

Man - the announcers were trying so hard to bring up the level of play - and players. Came off not too bad - but production and commentary several notches below "The Ultimate Poker Challenge" series.

Re: The most boring poker in the world

That reminds me of the tournament I enter at Empire last year. It is the reverse of your experience. I had to go out and forgot about it. Never play a single hand but I finish in the money!!!!!
