Chips: 1,827 | | | My poker playing weekend in Vegas. While playing in a casino tourney recently, I encountered my worst run of cards. My question is, when the cards are not coming your way, do you change your strategy or stick to your normal style of betting? I would say that I am a pretty tight player. Should I start to open up my range of hands played when the cards are not coming my way? The only reason why I lasted that long (2 hours) was that my hands were soooo bad that I only was able to see the flop about 6 times total. I was getting blinded out the whole way.
Here is pretty much the cards I had in the tournament:
2 pocket pairs (2-2, Q-Q)
2 pocket picture cards (K-J, K-10)
Highest card with an Ace (A-7)
Times with a 10-9 (never)
Times with a J-9, Q-9, K-9 (2x?)

The next day I played at the Shoe again (5th-$100) and Plaza (no money). It was on my third day that I hit a hot streak. I played at the Nugget (4 way chop for $900 each), Nugget (5th-$285), and the Shoe (3rd-$485).
Summary: 3 Days and nights in Vegas 8 Tournaments played 4 Final tables (5th, 4 way chop, 5th, 3rd) reached 23 Hours of poker played 16 Hours of sleep 1770 Dollars in prize money won 880 Dollars in buy-ins, rebuys, and add-ons 890 Dollars in profit 0 Amount of energy left
I even busted out a young professional poker player out of the last tournament I played putting him in 4th place. This guy just won $250K at a big Vegas tournament recently. His brother who also is a professional got knocked out in 5th. Really fun guys to play poker with. No "I'm a professional" attitude.
Oh yah...also got to take a picture with Marcel Luske. He put his infamous turned upside down glasses on my face before we snapped the picture.

The tourneys at the Plaza and Shoe was @$100 total including a 1 time re-buy. The Nugget was $140 total including a re-buy and add-on. Quote: |
