New chips, new cards, start of a league season!

I finally got a chance to use my new Copags in our poker game tonight. It was just great, and the guys all loved the cards. I didn't tell them about the Egyptians octagons and plaques I had ordered, but they thought they were pretty cool when they saw them. And since I ordered some $500 chips as well, we got to use some of them in the game. Still using green and black plain ASMs along with it though, for now.

Started tracking results tonight, too. I guess we'll go with quarterly seasons, see what happens. No plans yet for the end of our first season - just more about seeing how it looks/works.

Oh, and even though I bought the new cards and chips - I won the game! (my first couple of games with my new ASMS I lost).

Last hand of the game was my Q4d against his Q7off (which he went all-in with pre-flop). I had a pretty huge chip lead at that point, after coming back from his near 3:1 lead - his busting out two players at once helped his stack quite a bit. Two diamonds on the flop, and made my flush on the river. Yay!

Good going, always nice to start with a win too. Did you try tapping the Copags as you set it down as another member suggested. That work for me cutting down the top card sliding off.

Re: New chips, new cards, start of a league season!

There actually didn't seem to be a problem with the cards sliding off the top. When I was dealing, I did tap/press slightly when setting the deck down, but I didn't mention it to the other guys. Maybe the bit of shuffling I was doing over the last week helped slightly.

They were just blown away by the cards though, so much nicer than the regular old Bicycles. I want to pick up a setup of KEMs and Dal Negros as well.

Fantastic start to the new league/season there. It is always nice to break in the new gear with a victory. Sounds like everyone had a good time and will be back for more of the same.

I really have to look into getting some new cards. The casino leftovers worked for the first few games but are starting to look rather tattered now.

If you have never tried a good plastic card (Kem, Copag, Dal Neger, etc.), please do so fast!!! You will not be disappointed!

I used the the old paper cards until about a year ago and then switched to KEMs, then Copag/Dal Negro and there is no way I could ever go back to the paper cards.

Re: New chips, new cards, start of a league season!

Even after just one night of playing with plastic cards, I know I can never go back! I encourage everybody to try them if they haven't yet, too.

Already, I have two Copag setups. By the end of the year, I'll have at least a setup each of Dal Negro and KEM cards, and possibly even more Copags if the WSOP cards are decently priced.

Newcomers (or long-absent people) to our games now are amazed at what we're using - with the good chips, nice table, nice cards, and my laptop running The Tournament Director!
