Played *edit* "Poker" with the Wife...

Well tonight I played with the wife....yea really I did... *edit* I was really hammered when I wrote this and boy it doesn't sound good this morning!!!

Actually we set up a couples card night....and we started with T2000 in chips and 25/50 blinds...it went well for 2 hands..then all the girls talked every single solitary time there was a break or if they weren't involved. Man did it suck....I ended up playing AKoff perfectly and everyone wanted a shot but my two pair held up to win the largest pot I have ever seen in my entire life...well we played about 6 hands, which took close to an hour and a half (really maybe a little longer) and then my wife says...."Why don't we play another game?"

My response...."What do you mean...there is no other game!"

That is when the s**t hit the fan!!!

Just to let everyone know....I will never set up a couples card night again!

The hardest part was telling the girls every single solitary time...."It's 50 to you."

*edit* So after we decide to end the game the guys went into another room we set up a second table and played hearts....a game that we have played for years and is always a blast.....and the girls.....well they just sat and talked....just like they did during the card game!

We have a couples night 1-2 times a month and we have a blast !

All the wives like to play and they have actually really improved there games.

Actually they like it so much we have had them jump in the cash games after our large tourneys.

Buying poker chips is sooooooo much easier when the wife actually likes to play !

We do couples night every once in a long while.

Whats funny is that couples night actually consists of two tables - one for the men and one for the women... (not much of a couples night).. its kind of like thanksgiving with the adult table and the kids table.

basically the problem was as you described. Too much gabber.... Once we split the tables up it was a lot more fun, but not very "coupily".

Man I wish we would have done this!! Money wasn't on the line, but it still would have been nice to sit at the table with a group of really close friends who don't play cards normally, I may have been able to get them to come to the next game! Just without the wives!

LOL we did this last night to. It will be the last time. It was annoying as all hell. My g/f and a buddy of mines wife always play with us. Their attentive and really enjoy the game and they understand the concepts and are greatly improving. Last night there were two new couples that my buddy invited over. He figured the game could use a couple new faces. He invited the guys who said they liked to play who in turn brought their wives. so theres ten of us in our normally 6 person game and the wives of the two new guys every hand "Do I bet, check, or fold". You saw the cards not us. Or I like the "I check" even when it was bet to them and they got mad they couldn't check. They talked back and forth across the table the whole time and even got mad at our original group for not really saying much. The husbands weren't much better but at least they kept up with the game and didn't need to be reminded every time there was a bet to them. It made for a long night.

We have three wives/fiancees that play in our group (my fiancee included). Fortunately, they all three are into the game and enjoy playing rather than gossipping. Two of them (my fiancee and another guy's wife) occasionally lose focus and it can get a little annoying. But since my fiancee tends to place in the money now and then I just put up with it. LOL

Okay, as much as this pains me to admit, I also am usually disappointed when one of the guys brings his wife, mother, sister you name it. I like being the only chick at the table. And I always deal.

So when his buddies are going to bring their mates, we just chalk up the evening to "fun cards" and don't take things as seriously.

I am humiliated as a female when someone's spouse comes "just to watch" and sits right next to him and proceeds to try to make conversation (with him) while we're playing. That's about as close as I've ever come to b**** slapping someone.

At our games Dealer makes the rules. And my rule is man or woman, "No play, no stay."

That's because women are the true agents of human competition, survival, and propagation. Men are just resources/tools that women use to make more women.
