Bad call... and other stuff

In our second T10,000 game tonight, I actually got to break out some orange T5000 chips from my new ASMs And something else that doesn't happen very often in our games - we coloured up the T100 chips. The game lasted a little longer than usual due to more than the usual number of people (7 instead of 4-6), and a couple of rebuys. It was quite impressive before the T100 colour-up, I had a hell of a lot of chips stacked up in front of me

As for the topic, on the last hand I think I made a pretty bad call, and I said that before I did so. At that point with T80,000 total on the table heads up, 3000/6000 blinds, and me having probably T55,000 in chips, I was looking at JT offsuit on the button. My friend pushed all in... it was for about half of the chips I had left, or it would be about even in chips if I lost (ont sure exactly). But I called anyway. Turned out he had AQ offsuit, figured I'd end up losing.

Luckily, a J and a T came on the flop, and nothing else of note after that. I really shouldn't have made that call, but I didn't think he had much at the time, or at least a medium pair. Turns out I was wrong But very lucky in the end.

But, everybody loves playing with my new ASMs instead of the old dice chips! I'm thinking more and more about getting my own custom set instead of some other set that anybody can get.

So it was down to heads up, with 3k/6k blinds? So you, the chip leader, had less than 10x the BB, and your opponent less than 5x the BB? I would push many many hands in this situation and call a push with nearly as many. JTo is an easy call in this situation. With blinds so high, the outcome is a crap shoot and JTo is definitely a playable hand. You can't put your opponent on a hand that is definitely more than a 60/40 favorite in this situation, and various factors compel a call with JTo in this situation.
