Marked Card

I've seen the Modiano Index Poker Peek (and thought they looked like they would be fun), so I order a set of two decks.

Last night we had a small home game of 8 guys playing NLHE ($10 buyin - no big stakes) and I pulled out my Modianos for the first time. Everyone thought they looked nice and were happy to play with them. After about a round of playing, we noticed on the back of one of the cards there was a small mark, like someone had taken a ball point blue pen and put a small line on the back... The guys I'm playing with are regular players (with the exception of one, someone brought a friend). We swapped out the deck and played with another deck, but I have a very hard time believing that 1) someone would have marked the card, which was a 9h and 2) that they could have done so while sitting at the table with no one noticing. Which leads me to believe that the card came this way. Is there a way to get ink off the card that I wouldn't know about? I tried washing it with a damp white paper towel and absolutely no blue ink came off. Which is again what made me believe that it was a printing error. Can someone give me any thoughts about this? Here are a few pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. This deck is non-playable the way it is, and I payed good money for this deck (and like it) so I don't want to just throw it out. Should I contact the company and get them to issue me a new deck (or even just a new 9h)?

Re: Marked Card

I find more rejects with plastic cards than I thought or ever expected. I know they are not perfect, but about every 4/5 decks, I get has a minor flaw of some type. I always buy extra sets of the same cards so I can maintain the ones I play with. We also manage to damage about 1 card out of every 4-6 games.

Re: Marked Card

Sure, I'm fine with a card getting bent or creased or scuffed over the course of a few games. I have no problem accepting that. The problem is we had played maybe 8 hands (4 with this deck since we alternate decks) and we saw this problem. It is hard for me to believe that one of these guys marked the cards. When I inspected the card, there was no indention (like you would expect to see from a ball point pen) and the ink wouldn't wipe off with a damp cloth (I did it as soon as I saw it - in the middle of the game).

Do you think that the sellers will send me a new card or deck? Again, I get that cards get messed up over time, but this was like 20 minutes of play...

Re: Marked Card

Depending on where you bought them:
Modiano Cards Replacement Card Program
ModianoCards.com is your only source for replacement cards in North America. If you value having the opportunity to replace your lost or damaged cards, be sure to buy your cards from ModianoCards.com or a participating reseller.
Modiano Cards are an investment. We understand this and know that you will want to play with them for as long as possible. Modiano Cards bring an element of class into your game and you, your family and friends will appreciate the quality play that our plastic playing cards provide. We want to ensure that you get all of the play you deserve from your Modiano cards. Therefore, as the leading distributor in the United States, we have decided to implement a replacement card program.
[h5]What is a replacement card program?[/h5]
This is a program that helps our customers and the customers of our resellers with a method to replace a damaged or lost card. A modiano deck is useless if it is not complete. You don't have to worry if you lose a card or damage a card. We are here to ensure you can continue playing with your Modiano cards for years to come.
[h5]How Do I reguest a new card?[/h5]
All orders will include a replacement card request form that will look like the images below:

To request a new card, just complete the form and send it to:

Brybelly Holdings, Inc.
Attn: Modiano Replacement Card
8712 E. 33rd Street
Indianapolis, IN 46226

[h5]For Modiano Cards -> Home Page customers:[/h5]

Please include $1 and a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope with the reorder business card that was included with your purchase. Please complete it as follows:
 • Card Style - This is the name of the design that you purchased (all styles are found on our website)
 • Color - This is simply the color of the back of the deck
 • Card Rank - List the number and the suit of the card
 • Index - List jumbo for cards that have large numbers or Regular for cards with small numbers (examples of jumbo and regular indexes can be found on our website)
 • A side note - You may want to include your phone number on the replacement card in case we have a problem with filling the order or if we can not decipher the information on the form
[h5]Modiano Cards purchased from other sites/stores:[/h5]
If you purchased from a different website or seller, please contact them to see if they have a replacement card program or if they are a member of this replacement card program. If not, please include $3 and a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope with a printout of the replacement card form and mail to the above address.
[h5]What if I didn't receive a replacement card request form with my website order?[/h5]
Simply give us a call at 1-888-832-5634 and we can send you out a new one (please have your invoice available).

Re: Marked Card

Thanks, that was helpful. I saw that card, but I have either misplaced it or threw it away. I guess I'll need to call them Monday. Thanks again for that reminder.

Re: Marked Card

Or contact Modiano and get the whole deck replace? I try to contact them but I have not heard from them yet. (2 days and counting)

Re: Marked Card

Yeah, I think it was a printing error. Because of that, I don't want to have to pay $1 and send a self address stamp when I didn't do anything wrong... I hope they either send me a replacement card (or deck) for free. We'll find out soon.
