Paulson Playing Cards

Hello Everyone,

I was perusing e-Bay and I stumbled upon a case (144 decks) of brand new, sealed Paulson playing cards from an off shore gaming hall just outside of Brooklyn called "New York." I decided to put a last minute bid on this item and as the only bidder I got the case for the reserve price of $125. Including shipping that works out to $1 per deck. While not the garage sale find of the century I do believe it's a pretty good deal, especially considering the fact that another seller on e-Bay was asking $3.99 (plus 1.99 S&H) per deck. I do own decks from every brand of plastic playing card out there so I'm well aware of the superiority plastic has over paper. I just thought it would be cool to use actual Paulson decks with my Pharaoh's set during my tournaments and cash games and couldn't resist putting in a bid. I am curious though, has anyone here ever used Paulson decks? If so, are they on par with Gemaco and Bee paper cards or are they of lesser quality? I'm assuming that since Paulson produces the best poker chip in the world that they'd also have top notch playing cards. I done on reckon I'm gonna find out in a week or so............GULP!

Interesting. I'm sure we could buy off any un-wanted decks around here.

144 decks should do you for a good while, even if you only get one game per deck. Nice find.

While I switched to plastic cards some time ago, we used to use old paper casino cards all the time. I never really paid too much attention to the different brands.

I just dug up a few old decks I had boxed up (Paulson/Aristocrat/Gemaco etc..) and don't really see any difference in any of them them.

Believe it or not, there is a difference in quality among paper decks as well. On the higher end of quality are the brands you mentioned Johnny then there are brands such as Maverick, Aviator and Mohawk (not to mention numerous Chinese imports) which seem to be a notch below IMO. I'm confident that my Paulson decks will not disappoint!

Phaetos, thanks for the offer to take some of the decks off my hands but I've already agreed to split my case with another Paulson fanatic. Otherwise, I would have gladly taken you up on that. The seller I purchased from has a few more cases for sale so if you'd like I can email you their contact info or you could just wait until another case is put up on e-Bay. The seller was real flexible with color breakdowns and may be able to 1/2 case counts as well.

I bought some Paulson decks used from the Tropicana in Atlantic City. They seem pretty nice to me.

I've seem to keep getting Paulson cards everytime I make a chip purchase on ebay. The first time it happened it was great and I thought "wow, these must be worth something" about 20 packs later it seems like a lot of sellers give them away when they take to long to respond to my email or take a little long shipping me whatever I won. They aren't bad cards. They compare nothing to plastics, but I have yet to find a paper card I like better. Someone said you can use them for one game, we end up getting several games out of a deck before there is any noticeable wear to the cards. I personally like them. They shuffle well and are slick enough that you don't have a hard time dealing, which seems to be the biggest problem with most paper cards. You made a good purchase and they will go good with your paulson chips.

My first " home game " was on Paulson paper cards ... and i loved them better than Bicycle ...i think they last longer too ....

Got a deck of Paulson's Bluz at the bend cards. Pretty nice, but I prefer plastic.

As far as paper casino cards go, Paulsons are a little thick and slick for me. I just stick with bee cards. Good casino paper cards. Bellagio and palms. Las Vegas clubs look nice as well.
